A brown Christmas in some of the northernmost parts of Europe Which is very normal considering how exceptionally mild Norway is for its latitude. Tonnes of snow are in Siberia as usually, some snow in Eastern EUrope as well.

Tonnes of snow are in Siberia as usually, some snow in Eastern EUrope as well. You are right about the the coast being very mild for its latitude. You are however very wrong about it being normal with brown Christmas at these loocations I mentioned. As I wrote in the first post in the Chance of White Christmas thread, the chance of a White Christmas in Tromsø is 90 %. link to thread In Honningsvåg further NE I would guess a 95 % chance. So a brown Christmas is certainly unusual. Actually, it is normal with a lot of snow at these locations for Christmas. Last year Tromsø recorded 52 cm snow on the ground for Christmas, and all Dec days had at least 38 cm snowdepth, most days 50 cm or more. In 2018 it was 30 cm snow on the ground, etc.

I was in Tromsø and Hammerfest in December 2019 and there was a lot of snow in both places.

Not liking the look of this at all: When the BoM abstains from splattering red paint all over the map…you just know something's up 👍🏻 Not gonna be pretty.
