Benfxmth those maps are much, much more optimistic than my local TV station (WBAY-TV), which doesn't have a precipitation chance above 40% for Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday NWS forecast has you and I expecting 4-6". I'm excited since this will be the first significant snow of the winter. Full state map from www.weather.gov/mkx/winter, your map would be www.weather.gov/grb/winter

972 hPa today, down from 1030 hPa a couple days ago. 60 mbar down in a little more than 24 hours, Iceland-style. Snow falling in the western suburbs rn apparently, nothing but rain here.

Precip rn. Red = snow, green = rain:
What would you say sticks? 5 cm?
Anyway, about as much as we've gotten all this winter.

Crunch41 I hope the NWS is right. Like I said, though, the local TV forecast leaves me exceedingly pessimistic.

Anyway, about as much as we've gotten all this winter. I wish! Nothing sticks where I am as it's either very wet snow or sleet. This is in the western suburbs, where the "layer" is thickest:

Month to date (28th) :
Pekanbaru has been very dry with only 86.8mm of precipitation, way drier than the Dec average, let alone a typical La Niña Dec.
Bandung's precip. so far is 171mm, about average.

Funny you consider that very dry, that’s pretty much an average month for Rochester and would typically feel wet to me. Had some gusty winds this morning, with one gust bringing a 59 mph gusts. Way windier than anything in Fort Collins while I was there—wind might be the only thing Rochester has better. Rochester has 10.0” (25 cm) of snow this month on 9 days >1 cm. Pathetic, light snow is so boring, at least it’s better than no snow.

Two cities that do not differ much in terms of latitude, only a few degrees. Athens: Yerevan...

Grytviken (South Georgia Islands) recorded extremes of 15.8°C/ 26.4°C yesterday!!
There was a warm air plume advancing to this area, but I never expected (nor did the models) such figures. It was locally impacted by consistent foehn winds.

I want to believe that is true, but other sites are showing normal temperatures. Average for January is 1/-8 with a record low of -28.

Shiiiit! Never thought I'd be jealous of Grytviken of all places!

Not quite; their all-time record is 28.8'C. It is a December record though!

Yes, it recorded 28.8°C on March 1922. I think yesterday’s maximum was the highest recorded in modern times by far, being 23.5°C in 2004 the last time it had got that high.
