Had a cool morning this morning, lows were 53 F (11.7 C) at both recording stations which means probably about 49-50 F (10 C) where I live. It's currently 76 F (24.4 C) with a 53 F (11.7 C) dew point, about as average as it gets for January. We're gonna have another seasonably cool night tonight before we get stuck in an 80s/60s loop for the forseeable future. Forecast is quite "boke" worthy for the next week.

Quite the windy night here, with gusts up to 94 km/h at Orly airport and even un to 108 km/h at Toussus le Noble in the SW suburbs. Nice airmass change during peak winds, though not quite as sharp as in the UK it seems: We had again 89 km/h gusts this evening. Russia must really be stealing the cold right now. 2C at midnight in NU. This hour's hot and cold spots ... Hot spot in Nunavut: 1.7 °C 35.1 °F Pangnirtung Holy fuck what a map for the western half of the country!

Some fun facts about these 2/3rds of January we've just experienced in Saskatoon...
Our mean temperature is a ridiculously mild -7.3C, which is: • 8.2C above average • Only 1.9C colder than an average March • 0.6C warmer than March was last year • 1.3C warmer than March 2018
Our record low is -16.8C, which is: • 3.9C warmer than the average January low • 1.5C warmer than the average December low • 1.0C warmer than the average February low • 5.3C warmer than the record low last April
We also have not had a single high below -10C (average high for January is -10.1C), and we've had 7 highs above freezing but only 5 highs below -5C. This has been the most ridiculously mild January I can remember. I've really enjoyed it, as it's been cold enough to keep snow on the ground and feel properly wintery but without being obnoxious or inconvenient most of the time, which is precisely what I'm looking for in a winter. This is the closest I've come to experiencing a full winter like that, and it has further reinforced the idea that I would probably enjoy winters in Southern Ontario (which are even a bit milder than this) and that it's my favorite climatic region of Canada.
Sadly, all of this changes now as we plunge into proper mid-winter cold, with highs dropping below -20C on a couple days in the coming week, but with February right around the corner we're almost out of the woods as far as prolonged serious cold goes.

Winter 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 feel like the return to the normal/natural climatic state (remember that?), almost no intrusions of Arctic/polar air and minimal snowfall, we’ve just been basking in Pacific air blowing across the continent. NYC is basically London, but sunnier.
Next week looks cold, nothing severe, but colder than it’s been in the last 2 years with a stretch of highs generally in the mid 30’s, NYC should stay above 20°F (-7°C), might see upper teens here.

It's been a really stable January here as well; 12 days so far this month have had highs in the 48-52°F range, no lows below 28°F here. See, the US South will be a true subtropical paradise once the Cold Epoch ends.

GFS 00Z run has over a foot of snowfall in central NC next Thursday! While this forecast is likely to change, but models are agreeing on wintry precipitation that day. Yahya Sinwar

Nice morning here, 55 F (12.8 C) as of 8 am, low this morning was about 49 F (9.4 C) and headed up to 81 F (27.2 C) today with sunny skies, big diurnal range. Now, we have TWO 88 F (31.1 C) days in the row forecast for next week. At least it looks to cool down by the end of next week though.

Hot weather in Northern Patagonia / West Pampas, snow in the Andean Plateau and boring 23C/32C type of weather in Buenos Aires for several days already.
Let’s see if today we can hit an all-time record in Patagonia. Cipolletti recorded 42.6°C yesterday and was 0.4°C short from it. Nearby Neuquén is another contender for a record. Meanwhile, the Andean plateau was wet and cold last days, and some snowfalls where recorded at 3600 m and above. This is low altitude for the area at this time of the year, which is besides the wet season. The occurrence of these events are known as “invierno boliviano” (Bolivian winter) and refers to monsoon related cooling that causes cool day-time temperatures in mid-summer, often below the ones we find in the other seasons, even winter, which has freezing nights but generally mild afternoons. Snow in Tres Cruces, Jujuy province (3700 m)

Ok, this is getting fucking insane. Another class 3 warning for snowfall in about the same area that got a class 3 warning for heavy snow just a week ago (mind you, before that no such warning had been issued in sweden for 10 years). An additional 50-60cm is expected to saturday evening in the red zone. At this point i think the swedish snow-depth record outside of the scandes (190cm) is in jeopardy. And it's only January.

Low was -1.3c, high 4.8c. I think snow cover has gone down about 5-6 cm. But there was quite a lot of snow in the morning - 16 cm.

Two all-time highs beaten today in Argentina:
- Maquinchao 38.9°C (previous record 38.0°C in 1944) - Cipolletti 43.8°C (previous record 43.0°C in 1980)
Both towns are located in Río Negro province, in Northern Patagonia. Very nice figures in the area, including 41.4°C in Neuquén and 32.7°C in Bariloche.
