ral31 A blowtorch early February looks likely โ GEFS now forecasts ridging over central US with troughing in the west Yeah looking like warm temps will dominate thru the first week of February here... Hopefully colder temps return afterward.

An extreme cold warning is in effect for Saskatoon. The deep freeze finally arrived, our first one since mid-December and only the second one of this magnitude this winter. And it looks to be shorter and milder than usual, so this winter's ridiculous mildness is extending even into the cold snaps.
The consistent lack of serious cold we've had really sticks out on a day like this when it finally comes back.

The 12Z weather model runs have shifted next week's winter storm northwards.

This image shows the prominent delineation of max temps on a summers day in the south east of Australia. At 3.30pm Saturday 23rd Jan 2021. Coastal areas south of the ranges barely into the low 20's and towns along the Murray Valley into the high 30's.

^^^ where did you get that from?
Adelaide had a 31C low. Meanwhile, here the low was merely 20C, only 4C below forecast. It was already below forecast by midnight lmfao
Tonight's low is forecast to be 31C, highest I've ever seen forecast, so it will either be 23C or 34C.

currently 12.9c in Seoul. All time record is 14.4c. Didnโt realize we got this close to breaking a record
Also shocking how low the record for January is. NYC has no issues reaching 14c in January, feels like it happens a few times every other year

It is shockingly low, I had to do a double take For a location at 37N to never reach 15c in January is unfathomable. Even Bunghole's January record is much higher

70mm recorded from 1am-1pm today in Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta, 104.5mm in Jakarta Tanjung Priok Some areas in Bekasi (east of Jakarta) are flooded Also only 40.1 sunshine hours in Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta so far (1st-23th). With the monsoonal rain forecast for the next week, sub-50 sun hours at the end of the month is very likely...

Oh my, looks like I'm in the only part of the front that doesn't fall as rain! What have I done to deserve this? Rain = green, snow = red:

-35C with a windchill of -46C this morning, by far our coldest of the season. We also have an impressive forecast high of -28C, while our coldest high of the season so far has been -18C. Starting on Tuesday it looks like our highs will be back above -20C and our lows not much colder than -20C so this deep freeze is pretty short-lived compared to what it could have been.
