Winter walk in Stockholm. Seems like they’ve had a decent amount of snow. Yeah they recently had a pretty major snow storm that SMHI went out with warnings about

Fort Pierce airport (FPR) just north of me dropped to 29 F (-2 C) this morning, which breaks the monthly low record of 30 F (-1 C). Unofficial stations near me are reporting 34 F (1 C), but will have to wait until 7 am when the local COOP station reports its low for the official temp.

It's on its way: Appleton is around the curve on that highway (US 41) north of Oshkosh. It's always been weird that Oshkosh shows up on all the maps and Appleton is forgotten about, when Appleton is a much bigger city.

Very cold air-mass about to descend on the subtropical eastern US. These temperatures are next Friday. Below zero into northern Kentucky, below 10F into central Alabama.

We have a -38C low in the forecast for Sunday! And a -31C high that same day, damn that's a cold one!
I generally enjoy these epically cold temperatures since they only last a couple of days, however it's a bit annoying how they seem to happen near the end of the winter these past few years. By this point in the season I'd prefer we be in a solid warming trend rather than at our coldest.
That said, the upside to this timing is that we're just a few weeks away from much warmer weather (whereas if this happened in Dec or Jan we'd still be in the thick of it) and the longer days definitely help lighten things up a bit.
Also, today is the first day of the year where our average high is above -10C, but yeah... obviously none of that this week LOL.

Dropped to 39 F (3.9 C) at FXE this morning, there was quite a bit of ground and window frost this morning over here! w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KFXE.htmlWoke up at 6 am just to see how cold it was, had a cup of coffee and drove around for a bit. Car was marking 35-36 F (1.7 C - 2.2 C) driving around, and my car tends read about 2 F (1.1 C) warmer than the actual air temp. All in all, we definitely overperformed! Warming up very fast though, already 60 F (15.6 C) as of 10 am and heading up to 73 F (22.8 C).

Winter's coldest weather may arrive this weekend
A frigid mass of arctic air could push temperatures 12C below the seasonal average.
An area of low pressure moving to the southeast of Finland will bring colder air in from the northeast later this week.
According to Yle meteorologist Matti Huutonen, it is likely that the coldest air will stream across areas of southern and central Finland.
"We'll probably see the lowest temperatures from Friday to Saturday. It's likely that this will be the coldest week of this winter, in southern Finland at least," Huutonen said, adding that predicting exact temperatures is difficult as they are dependent on cloud cover.

Northern Lower MI is seeing an Unusual Warm surge before the snowstorm. Tomorrow, the temps will crash like crazy once the storm passes. Insane how the UP needs "warm fronts" to see snow in the winter. What a climate !!

Southern England should see an organised band of snow on Saturday/Sunday, before attention turns to sea effect snow for eastern areas. GFS and a few other models have been consistently showing a snow streamer over West Yorkshire, plus streamers elsewhere (Lincolnshire, East Anglia etc).

I remember feeling similarly frustrated when we missed out on the deep cold in Feb 2012. Seeing people skating on the canals of Amsterdam. I know the pain.

I remember feeling similarly frustrated when we missed out on the deep cold in Feb 2012. Seeing people skating on the canals of Amsterdam. I know the pain. Don't worry we got severely trolled back then too. The frustration is too big so I feel like spamming and I will put the rant under a spoiler. You know you're going to be majorly fucked in the arse when it all begins like this: After that it's trolling raid after trolling raid. Cold to the north. Cold to the east. Okay that's not too abnormal: What about this now? Cold to the south! Cold everywhere! Don't blame the UHI, there's no reason for airfields in the outer suburbs to be that mild compared to, say, Normandy other than Feb 2012 being a major fuckup in Ile-de-France. Coldest 10 days comparison between Orly airport and Champagne airport 120 km away. Half-assed cold in Paris: Proper cold in Reims: For the lulz, the same period in Bergerac, a town surrounded by vineyards near Bordeaux. It's kind of a frost hollow, but you know it's bad when it's routinely 5 to 10°C colder than you.
