22.5 mm today. Paris was ideally placed. Everything is soaking wet. I used to jog on the pathway between the barges and the quay when I was training for the marathon. Well today it would make for a decent triathlon!

The next two nights are forecast to drop to -39C, with a -50C windchill tonight and -54C windchill tomorrow night. One of these will end up being the coldest of the winter.
Altogether we have the potential to hit six nights below -30C this month, double the average for February and two more than we had in January.

Expecting 4-6 inches of snow here tomorrow. Lucky High was 394 f today (201 c). Smashed the world record lmao link
Occasionally this will happen where data isn’t input for a day or two but then it’s filled in normally...now from 7 AM yesterday to 9 AM today is completely missing and after that is filled in with random bullshit values like the 394 f. The cold snap is looking more and more exciting, looking at low teens f highs and sub 0 lows Thursday and Friday.

There's been a massive discrepancy of 30°F or so between the Euro and the GFS in the medium to long range for Oklahoma. I don't think I've ever seen such an extreme discrepancy before. It's the difference between dead-on average temps and near-record cold.

Holy Shit The temperature is the number in the upper-left corner. These numbers are in Fahrenheit, meaning it's -13'F (-25'C) right now in Green Bay, -26'F (-32'C) in Rhinelander Right now skies are clear except for some lake-effect snow bands on the west coast of Michigan's Lower Peninsula.

First week of February has so far recorded 55.0mm of precipitation, against a monthly average of 60.1mm. A month's worth in one week!

It's kinda Gayed up how the record breaking cold air stops just west of Michigan . But at least I may see a night close to 0. That's good enough for me .

This morning's hourly low was -39.6C at 7:00, so there's a very fair chance we hit -40 at some point between hourly readings! We'll find out tomorrow when today's official high/low are published.

We dropped back down to -39.8C at the 9:00 hourly reading, so it's extremely likely we'll have hit -40 at some point between readings. We'll find out tomorrow!
Windchill is currently at -51C, fun stuff!

Almost warm enough to be interesting today, 85 F (29.4 C) with a 72 F (22.2 C) as of noon at the airport, absolutely vile winter weather.
EDIT: 87 F (30.6 C) with a 71 F (21.7 C) as of 1 pm. Holy fuck. May as well hit 90 F today. Overnight low was only 72 F (22.2 C) as well.

While Northern Europe is facing remarkably cold weather, at lower latitude instead we are dealing with southern winds bringing relatively warm temperatures, lots of rain over many regions and... the sand of the Sahara desert. It's also visible from the satellites, it's quite cool. Because of that, the clouds and the fog around my place (I'm moving back and forth my village and Turin in these days) often look quite yellowish, often the rain is leaving back quite a lot of sand on the ground (or on parked cars), and higher on the mountains the sand is also visible on top of the snow. As an example, this is a picture from a sky resort quite close to my village (in Bardonecchia): I heard of similar observations from the rest of NW Italy (Turin, Milan, Genoa...), on the French side of the Alps (Grenoble, Lyon, Savoy...) and some parts of Switzerland.
