It just keeps getting colder... tonight's forecast low has been downgraded to -41C. Downgraded here too, showing -37C for tonight, earlier were showing -34C. Looks like Saskatoon got down to -41.4C this morning at this station: weather.gc.ca/past_conditions/index_e.html?station=pox

Fuck me, we're supposed to have winds of 40km/h gusting to 60km/h (25mph gusting to 37mph) tomorrow?! With temperatures in the -30s?! Fuuuuuck... No wonder they're forecasting a windchill of -55C in the morning, this is about to go to a whole other level.
I don't recall ever seeing this kind of wind with these temperatures before, usually the air is decently calm during this sort of cold snap. Well, tomorrow's gonna be an interesting day...

Today got to 54 (12 c) with dry air and sunny skies. Then, an absolutely epic cold front came through with dropped the temp 25 f (14 c) in the span of just 10 minutes. Winds gusted to 51 mph as the front came through. Sadly, I was inside watching the Super Bowl and didn’t even notice until I checked the observations later. Wished I could’ve experienced that. I did go out for a walk around 8 PM and it was frigid with very light non-sticking snow, just assumed it was rapid radiational cooling but apparently not.

This easterly is shaping up to be a fail here. We had a cm this morning that has now largely melted, plus the forecast looks very dry with only sporadic light showers after today. If it’s just going to be dry and cold, I’d rather have some early spring warmth. Pointless otherwise.

Lol the latest UKMO run has the coldest temp on the map just west of Paris for Wednesday. As if! Today got to 54 (12 c) with dry air and sunny skies. Only went down to 5 F yesterday night. Didn't drop to the predicted 2 F. What a shame . Still, a single digit night is appreciable for the zone. What's up with the TWC vs accuweather forecast for Dallas. One has a high of 29 F, and the other has a high of 41 F on Friday....

Abisko in the far north of Sweden, near the Norwegian border, had a maximum snow depth in December of 3cm, and just 9cm in January. The previous lowest maximum snowdepth records were 5cm for December, and 15cm for January. Insane considering places around Umeå are breaking their records for most snow.

We had a bit of freezing drizzle today, but it wasn't really impactful in Norman. Places along and north of I-40 had some traffic accidents.
Freezing drizzle is somewhat common here, but it's my least favorite form of precipitation. It usually doesn't fall in sufficient quantities to produce a nice glaze, but still can accumulate on roads and cause accidents.
