Our forecast low for tonight is -35C but we're already there at 10:00pm. Maybe this will just be a very stable night where it doesn't really continue dropping, or maybe the forecast is all wrong and we'll go for a third -40 night this month? Good intuition. Looks like it’s on the way there.

Edit: coldest spot was Mühlhausen, Thuringia with -26.7 °C this morning (my step sister lives there lol), quite a few places recorded diamond dust last night. I was going to post that! Awesome cold in central Germany! That's the coldest temp in lowland Germany since when? 2018, or earlier? I'm pretty sure 2019 and 2020 didn't reach that. That's even the coldest temperature since 2012 (for both lowland and higher elevated places)! Coldest temperature during the Feb 2012 coldwave I could find was -34.9 °C in Oberstdorf.

A rare day in winter when it is almost clear and sunny in Riga. Currently, at 2 p.m., it is sunny and -7.7C. Light wind from North-East, 20 cm of snow in the ground. Scandinavian high-pressure system Helida will probably continue to bring sunny weather tomorrow. Snow is possible in western Latvia because of the warm front.

Cold morning for some cities. Orleans as usual gets a decent snow layer while we get close to fuck all, and it shows in the temps: Coldest low in lowland France was -16.3°C/3°F in Buhl-Lorraine between Metz and Strasbourg. Nothing all that special, it dipped lower back in January. Coldest in Paris region was -12.2°C/10°F in Fontainebleau.

Uh... This will be one for the record books. East texas hasn't seen below 0 cold for more than 40 years. I believe 1985 was the last time it got that cold.

-39.9C at the 9:00am hourly reading, so we'll almost certainly have dropped below -40 in between hourly readings at some point. We'll find out tomorrow when they publish today's official high/low. And I just realized how much more impressive these extreme windchills sound in Fahrenheit - this morning's -55C equals -67F, not bad Also, am I the only one on this forum who's experienced these kinds of extreme temperatures and windchills before? There certainly aren't many but I'm not sure if I'm literally the only one or not.

Btw, crazy weather in Saskatoon! I'm bored to tears with my weather, so I'm gonna post some crazy forecasts for this upcoming week. Also please note these forecasts are in Fahrenheit. San Antonio, TX: Waco, TX: Dallas, TX: Gainesville, TX: Oklahoma City, OK: Braman, OK: Keep in mind, most of these places have average highs in the 50-70 F (10-21 C) range at the moment. Crazy stuff!!

Below zero coast to coast. Environment Canada doing its usual tomfoolery though with the Edmonton weather station. Possible historic snowstorm coming to the Pacific Northwest including here on southern Vancouver Island Friday-Saturday. Huge totals in the mountains but also at low elevations: look at the snowfall totals in the Seattle-Portland corridor!
