Tonight is the last night in the forecast below -30C Although we could still end up having one or two later in the month or even in early March, it seems unlikely. The forecasts clearly show a solid warming trend for us over the coming week and that warmth is supposed to stick around for nearly another week after that. By that point we'll be near the end of the month and it would have to be a really serious cold snap to bring us back down into -30s territory again. Likewise, our highs below -20C seem to be at a probable end. Tomorrow has a forecast high of -19C and then we seem to steering well clear of them.

Max temps today (or how to know your climate isย ๐๏ธ in one picture) Nothing wrong with those temps at all. They look amazing I wonder if the folks in South Texas are looking out across the Gulf of Mexico and thinking those Floridians are lucky bastards for avoiding this.

High was only 0.1 f (-17.7 c) today. Absolutely epic cold yet really infuriating how close it came to a sub-zero high.
Thatโs the coldest high since 1997, a new daily record, and the latest ever to have a high that cold.
NWS is still saying -17 f for tonight, would be awesome if it drops that far. Iโd definitely go out in the middle of the night as that would be the coldest Iโve actually experienced (yes I was around for the -22 in Pittsburgh but I was 3 and probably not outside for it).

Yeah might be the end of -20C highs and -30C lows for the season, looks much above that into March. Last time CYWG had a -20C march high and -30C march low was 2014, with -26C/-37C beginning of that month. Though latest for that high and low is March 23 & 30 respectively.

Every Swedish station has gotten "meteorological winter" for the first time since the winter of 2015/2016. Meteorological winter is in this case defined as 5 consecutive days with means <0.0'C.

In other news, Umeรฅ airport was the tenth coldest station in the entire country (out of the automatic stations available on Ogimet) last night. 15th out of all the stations. -22.4'C (Uni roof got down to -11'C). Not uncommon for Umeรฅ airport to record among the coldest temperatures in the country on clear and calm nights despite its 10-15km distance to the sea. Frost hollow Horn in Gรถtaland county at 58'N recorded -25.2'C. Coldest in the country was -29.9'C so no -30'C.

Temperatures just fell below zero Fahrenheit, and the wind chill is -24ยฐF (-31ยฐC). Truly incredible cold for Oklahoma, especially this late in the winter. I measured 4.5" (11.4 cm) before it completely stopped, but it's too cold for me to go out and take another measurement. I'll go out for a bit to experience the cold tomorrow night when it's supposed to get even colder, but I've already spent enough time in the cold today and don't feel like freezing again. I might consider wearing two pairs of pants, since I don't have any long underwear. As for the snow measurements, there's so much drifting that the actual total could be anywhere from 4-6" (10-15 cm) and I wouldn't be surprised.

At least two locations have broken their all-time record lows. Limon, Colorado dropped to -28 F (-33 C), breaking their old record of -27 F. Sidney, Nebraska reached -31 F (-35 C), breaking their record of -30 F. Both places have records going back to 1948. I'm sure many other locations have broken either their monthly or all-time record lows.

Today will be known as the Texas Palm Tree massacre. Running 30-50 F below average statewide. May god bless the beautiful palms that perished.

TWC is showing 8+ inches of snow in east TX and north LA. Iโm guessing Houston and Austin are not used to these amounts of snow. They will be paralysed

Crocuses are coming out now. With every day forecast to be above 10C for the next 8 days, itโs starting to feel a lot like spring.

I forgot what 10 C feels like. It's been that long. We are going to get hit with some heavy snow tonight. NWS saying 5-8" of accumulation, followed by single digit nights. Good news . Snowpack expected to stick around until April, when my average high rises to 50 F, and low is 33 F. Wisconsin and minnesota will have snow potentially stick around even around mothers day. Tell your mommy no picnic this time.

The extreme cold warning has come to an end! Finally! I think it was up for 10 straight days or something like that, easily the longest uninterrupted weather warning I can remember seeing here. Goodbye -30C lows and -20C highs, and go fuck yourselves!

Tornado watches in the Panhandle of FL right now, they're also under an enhanced risk for severe weather for today: Also big west-east contrast in that region for lows tonight, ranging from a hard freeze to the west to rather mild in the east: Pensacola area lows: Lower teens that far south in Mississippi is quite rare, could also potentially hit the teens in the NW corner of the Panhandle. Love these types of dynamic weather systems, lots of weather porn right now.

Last night was overcast so the low massively underperformed, only getting to -10 (-23.4 c) which only a few f below the mean annual min.
I went outside when it was -7 f (-22 c). Felt noticeably colder than low single digits. Thatโs the coldest temp Iโve actually been outside in (Iโve experienced colder but I wasnโt outside for them).
While the record cold in the plains is rightly hogging the news, Seattle has had 12.4โ of snow the past few days and Portland has had 9.6โ!
