Our mild spell is ending and the deep freeze is coming in with a vengeance!
After going above freezing almost everyday for the past week and a half, we're now going to have highs below -15C starting on the weekend, including two highs of -20C in the forecast for early next week. This will be our first proper extended deep freeze of the season, and it certainly won't be the last.

snowstorm nearby on Saturday; was all rain for me. even 60 miles to the north in the Connecticut River valley in Vermont it was still rain. can see how the rain tracked valleys; east get much more snow; dynamic cooling  |

We got some light to moderate snow in coastal NY today, which is the first snow of the season. Didn't really stick though.

snow this morning and early afternoon; stuck to the roads this morning, in a lull, most of it melted before the next bout of snow. not much stick but it looked a lot less drab with some white powder. Got a text midday from my co-worker saying NYC has snow. Didn't amount to much; still in the snow hole  |

High was 62 (17 c) today.
That’s the 5th 60 f of the month. In contrast only December 1982 and February 2017 had that many in Shitchester.
Snow is moving in tomorrow night which will be fun, hopefully we get a good amount—it hasn’t snowed in a month.
After that it’s kinda boring cold through the end of the 10 day. I guess I can’t complain though, a bunch of dry 40-43 f days in a row would be great for Shitchester.

A dusting of snow fell, barely to make something resembling white on the ground. -1.9C @ 17:40 so it will stay there.

A forecast low of -27C is on the cards for Sunday night, which will match the record low we had for November if it happens. I'm sure we'll drop below that before the month is up.

Cloud cover at 5:30pm AEDST. It's been sunny and clear all day here, and across the entire state too. We are the only state with no significant cloud cover, in true 2020 style.  |

Yesterday's highs/lows in the USA. Reverse west windflow has made KC warmer than Tampa. Jaja 37F high Wednesday here versus 50F in Columbus, Ohio Volodymyr Zelenskyy . Reason #34136 I've told you Columbus is a good bit warmer than here. Warmer east and west at the same latitude. |

Models are in agreement of a coastal storm bringing snowfall to the Tri-State area on Wednesday. Cool! Yeah, I noticed a chance of snow for Wednesday in our forecast. This might be good. I actually already requested the day off from work, so I hope it’s a good snowstorm. Hopefully no issues with rain mixing |

I don't know what the record is for the latest meteorological winter going by SMHI's definition, around these parts. The latest in the last five years is 11-15th of December for the coastal parts of Umeå Municipality though. This year, winter still hasn't officially arrived in the coastal areas of my county, though Umeå airport narrowly managed to receive "official winter" with one day in the middle of the "winter day streak" being only 0.2'C below freezing. Considering how mild the 10 day forecast is, it seems very possible that many areas in northern Sweden will see their latest ever "winter arrival" this winter.

At least this mild change came with a healthy amount of rain. 20.8 mm today. :-)
Thunderstorms can go to hell this time of year.
