Up to 8" of fresh snowfall could fall in parts of Michigan with this snowstorm which will track through tomorrow.
A North Atlantic depression is likely to track towards Europe, and bring high waves to the British Isles.

Umeå hasn't recorded a single second of sunshine since December 1st. Stockholm recorded 570s of sunshine on the 28th of November. Not a single second of sunshine since then.

2.4” (6 cm) of snow fell today, first overnight and then in another afternoon band.
That’s the first snow in over a month.
The high was only 28 (-2 c), the first ice day since October and the 3rd of the year.

Norman may get a couple inches of snow, but I won't be around to experience it. At the rate things are going, they may get their first above-normal-snowfall winter since 2014-15, but I won't be around there until early January.
Raleigh has had the coldest start to December since 2010, but only the 44th coldest start on record. Most recent Decembers in the area have been torchy, and I wouldn't be surprised if December is our fastest warming month from 1981-2010 to 1991-2020.
Umeå hasn't recorded a single second of sunshine since December 1st. Stockholm recorded 570s of sunshine on the 28th of November. Not a single second of sunshine since then. Has there been any clear sky at night?

Umeå actually has recorded the most sunshine this month in the entire country, out of the sun stations that is, with a little over 4h on December 1st. After that day, the sky has been covered completely 24/7 like it has in the rest of the country.

Yesterday's highs/lows in the USA. Reverse west windflow has made KC warmer than Tampa. nice; wish that warmth could reach us

Some heavy rainfall overnight with a front that came thru - I had about an inch and a half of rain. Not really much of a cool down behind the front. Temps reached the low 70's the past couple of days; high of 67F today. Another cold front coming tomorrow should bring more rainfall. Then high temps next week look to be mostly in the 50's with a couple of freezes.

Impressive sea temperatures. Even Vänern, our largest lake, is still 8'C. 2-3'C above average in most of the Baltic.

In Riga, the weather is just grey today. Overcast with SE wind. Low of -1.7C and high of 2.3C. There will be no sunshine tomorrow unfortunately: P.S. There have been several sunny days this month so far, nothing like Stockholm or Umea here.

High yesterday (the 12th) was only 26 (-3 c). It was mostly overcast with some light snow in the evening.
Another 1-3” is expected overnight but I don’t see anything now. Anyway we’re getting screwed by the storm track, SE Colorado is getting 6-8” along with even more in parts of western Kansas, Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle. Some of these places just had a big dump to start the month.

Early days, but Christmas Day is looking good based on this map. Hopefully a long stretch of warm-hot weather again

mild day coming up today. 40°F and thick fog this morning, felt damp. I'd say it's the last mild day of the season, but said that of the Friday before last, too. You can really see the topography in that map of western New England, just like the white Christmas map
