Me and a bunch of my friends took a walk to the arboretum yesterday. Absurd snow depths on this lawn in the western end of the town. Definitely more than a meter. Possibly 1.5m Rest of the album:

Trees coated with ice during freezing rain on Wednesday. The street still looked like this Friday morning. Got above freezing that afternoon.

I climbed Horsetooth rock yesterday, which is the classic Fort Collins hike. Itβs the most prominent landmark here and is only 6 miles west of me as the crow flies. Distance: 5.0 miles Starting elevation: 5,800β Summit elevation: 7,285β We were originally gonna do a sunset hike but my gf thought the mountain lion someone sighted 3 weeks ago was gonna eat us. Ended up being a great decision to hike in the afternoon as there was no sunset to speak of and it wouldβve been dark, cold and very icy coming down. It started out in the open < The trail soon climbed into pine forest but there were nice views down to the foothills, plains and the reservoir: Looking up at the peak More foothill views Eventually, we reached a spot right below the summit rock. This was the last out of the wind spot and was very pretty It took a moderately difficult scramble to get on the summit ridge. The snow and ice made it harder than normal but it was still fun. Distant snow and clouds obscured some of the view unfortunately. To the north you can see into Wyoming and can faintly make out the Snowy Range in the distance To the east you could see the frozen reservoir, Fort Collins, and well off into the plains Views to the west: I could see downtown Denver to the north but it doesnβt come out in pictures. Saw some very close up and not scared deer on the way down And then a big herd of deer >

South-Coast Trip: February 16th to 20th. Comprised of a drive to Fitzgerald River National Park. A couple of days there before driving to Hopetoun and experiencing the far eastern edge of the same national park (it's huge). I was planning Esperance as I've never been there but every place was booked out for a week. Weather: Difficult to give observations for Fitzgerald River as it is very isolated and has a different positioning compared to Hopetoun Station and Albany Stations. February 16th: sunny and hot during my drive (35-40C) with scattered showers and storms developing. When I got to my campsite it was humid and partly cloudy, we actually got hit by a storm that missed my campsite by about 1.2km (measured distance between lightning and thunder during the storms, that was the closest it got). February 17th: a sunny and rapidly warming morning before showers and thundery cells came through bringing decent falls and really cooling everything down. Now I can use station data Hopetoun February 18th: 22.3/12.3 - a mostly sunny but very breezy day, generally W/SW winds as a dry cold front passed. February 19th: 23.4/11.9 - mostly sunny with some fluffy cumulus about, generally light S winds tempering the heat. Albany February 20th: 21.6/13.0 - mostly sunny, warm (especially inland during my driving) and quite breezy in Albany. February 21st: 21.0/18.0 - overcast and grey in Albany. Perth was 35.1/16.7 that same day ahahahah Mud Map of my route. I should really pursue my pure talent into an arts degree. Photos: 16th February Distant view of SW Western Australia's only real mountain range, the Stirlings. A photo featuring both the unstable air on this hot day; and the Great Western Woodlands, which despite being expansively farmed is still one of the largest woodlands in Australia. View from Jerremungup to the east - the wide open expanses of the South-Eastern Wheatbelt. West Mt Barren St Mary's Beach February 17th: Mamang Hike, about 15km one way (campsite at the end if you want to overnight). One of the best hikes I've ever been on. Morning cloud burning off Heading Inland Valleys near Lake Nameless Previously mentioned lake Fucking Hell Shower cells rolling through February 18th: drive to Hopetoun February 19th: I froth lake+mountain shots Barrens Beach, had a swim here. Hiking East Mt Barren Regional Deformation <3 <3 <3 Beach east of Hopetoun: February 20th: Drive from Hopetoun to Albany The Stirlings Albany The Gap and Natural Bridge Albany Harbour

Skiing at Blue Knob, PA (highest skiable mountain in Pennsylvania - 3,174 ft ASL) Heading up to the mountain, picture taken from a nearby mountain at around 2,000 ft View from the summit, looking east towards the Altoona - Bedford Great Valley. With a 2,000+ ft rise from those towns, the climate on the summit of Blue Knob is drastically different. Probably bordering Dfc Trails were a bit icy, snow depth at the resort is about 60" but the top layer was slick. The temperature dropped below 0F the night before I arrived Woods skiing was very prevalent

I had to go to the store at 22.30 yesterday. Freezing drizzle at -3'C. Insane snow amounts. It's snowed maybe 50cm in total since that last blizzard a few weeks back, about 30-40cm of which were in the last few days. Also insane is how bright it can be in the middle of the night when the clouds are low and bright.

There's an old lady living on the bottom floor of my apartment building who always goes to the nearby pond to feed the ducks. One duck has started to wait outside the front door every morning for her to come. Infamous Uni rooftop station. I wish they'd just put their station on any of the green spaces on campus instead of on the rooftop.

Todayβs βhikeβ was short and nearby, in the Pineridge natural area. Distance: 3.3 miles Elevation: ~5200β for most of it, was pretty flat Started out by the Dixon reservoir, a smaller reservoir on the east side of the hogback: < The trail wound through a prairie dog town, I know theyβre considered pests but theyβre very cute. Looked like a summer time storm cloud building to the east Looking back at the hogback line Yuccas with what Iβm assuming is the Pineridge in the background. Yuccas are cool, still look kinda exotic to me. Lots of yuccas in this section Had solid views of Fort Collins from the ridge although it was windy as fuck here The trail then dropped off the ridge and looped around the reservoir. Drove the horsetooth road after the hike and stopped at the overlook of the Horsetooth reservoir and the foothills behind it >

Same shit in Paris, daffodils are already out! Nigh fuck all 1,000 m / 3,000 ft asl either! The weather since late January has quickly eaten the healthy mid-January snowpack. We're looking early April snow levels. People basking in the sun Some piles here and there. This particular spot would have you believing this hasn't been an entire failure of a month. Sad. Sadder. This is supposed to be a red ski track. What a welcoming house. Still some snow in the forest left to ski on: That mountain in the distance is almost a 5,000er (16,000er for Americans)! It was a bit too misty unfortunately... Summit zoomed in. If it wasn't for the mist, we could see the seracs on there 100 km away!

Went for a walk through a rural area near Saskatoon last week (Feb 22nd). It was sunny and around 2C or so which was quite pleasant, however it was also extremely windy (my car was shaking like a leaf on the highway), hence I spent most of the walk in the woods.
