Saw this bunny yesterday whose winter coat isn't really doing much for its camouflage.

It rained the whole of yesterday, but sometime during the night, the rain must've transitioned into snow, because this morning everything was covered by a perfect ~1cm layer of snow, making December 1st look quiite nice. The sun is only 4.5° off the horizon at noon now, and just barely manages to reach above the opposite building. In a couple of weeks the sun will only rise 3.0° off the horizon. I don't think the sun will be able to reach my window then...

Last day of autumn brought wind and rain. There was indescribable damage. Since then, the first few days of winter have been beautiful with sunny days and cool frosty mornings.

Can't get enough of these treescapes. I do wish the leafless season was longer!

While visiting the city today, I noticed roses in some places. It is clear that they will not be in this state for long any more but however this year has been such a nice one that there have not been any months where nothing would flourish (even here in east of the county).

I went up to Rocky Mountain NP after work today and did a brief ~3 mile hike before sunset. The drive there through the Big Thompson canyon was really cool, obviously couldn’t take any pics since I was driving. Nice pullover on the drive up < Another pullover with a nice view I parked at the Many Parks Curve overlook at 9620’. That’s the farthest the trail ridge road was open. Beautiful views from it: I hiked along the closed road for half an hour to about 9900’ before turning around. Wish I could have gone farther but it was getting dark. I’ve driven the whole road before but it was socked in by fog and rain so didn’t see anything. Peak peaking through the trees: Views opened up quickly though You can see the road snaking through the trees. There’s something that looks like a visitor center way down in the valley to the right, kinda ruins the view so putting a pic without it. Views of the beginning sunset on the way down and from the overlook again: The peak in the far right of that last pic is Long’s Peak—it’s the northernmost 14er and I can see it from my house. Small herd of elk I rounded another bend and there was a huge herd of elk. A bunch were fighting and I could hear the crashing of their antlers as I was just across the road. >

Finally getting my hunting trip pictures up. The first few were from November, so technically should be in the Fall thread, but whatever.
Before the snow hit, classic Northern PA Forest
Stumbled across a spring in the middle of the forest
Found an endangered newt nearby the spring!
Large Buck or Elk rub on a tree
Snow moved in strong one morning while in the tree stand
Around 2pm that day, snow was about 8" deep, so we decided to head out of the woods
When we got back, it got very cold and windy, built a bonfire and drank some beer and whiskey, awesome day

Can't get enough of these treescapes. I do wish the leafless season was longer! I don't wish the leafless season was longer but this year I eagerly anticipated bare trees the first time, they have a beauty in their own way.
