December 2015 overall was pretty WTF in the UK. The mean temp was 9.7°C - warmer than April 2015, only 1 degree cooler than May 2015, was warmer than any March ever recorded, was warmer than the coolest May, had a higher mean minimum than any April ever, and was overall just the most ridiculously anomalous month we’ve ever had.
If we had a July or August as anomalously warm, we’d be talking about mean temps of 21°C. I wish.

I remember Raleigh had its warmest December on record by 2.8°F, and it was almost 5°F warmer than the third warmest December. If that month had taken place in November, it would've been the fifth warmest November on record. There were also 7 lows above 60°F, while no other December has had more than 2, and the average December high is only 54°F.

Some more:
1. January 1977 averaged 42.1/25.6°F, which was the coldest January by 4°F, after January 1984.
2. December 2010 had 19 consecutive days with lows equal to, or below 30°F (from Dec 13th to 31st), with 27 days having lows below 32°F.
3. December 2015 has averaged 69.5/50.0°F, or a monthly mean of 59.8°F (13°F above the 1981-2010 normals), which would be 4.6°F above average even for November, and is the warmest December by 3.5°F.
4. June 1st & 2nd both had highs of 56°F, which are the coldest June highs on record by 10°F, and there have been only 6 instances of highs equal to, or below 56°F in the POR in May, three of which occurred in May 1967.
5. August 1955 had 24.23" of precipitation. This isn't as much of a WTF event as some of the others, as half of that precipitation was from Hurricane Connie (11.97" of rain fell from Aug 11th-12th), but it's still the wettest month on record by 7.54", after June 1962.

Being a convection lover I'd say the most best month, and also most WTF month for storms I've known in this country was the following:
June 2007 had 12 thunderstorm events within a 12 day period in Lincoln, Lincolnshire between 12th-23rd. That's good going even for Florida in June. Particularly good storms on 15th and also 19th with close lightning + loud thunder. Most others were heavy thundery downpours.

I'm sure at least some of you ( @etheral )are aware of the time on the 8th of november 1984 when sydney observatory hill recorded 196mm of rain in three hours including 120.3mm of rain in one hour between 10 and 11pm. this rain was caused by a coastal trough with high humidity values with in turn spawned very slow moving tremendous thunderstorms over the center and north of the city. this very heavy rainfall caused 80 million in damages. Cars floating down Newcastle Street, Rose Bay. Parramatta Road at Sydney Uni under water, yet sunny in Parramatta It extended over four days. There was a massive downpour early one morning (6th), another late that night (6th/7th) and for good measure a massive afternoon thunderstorm a couple of days later (8th). A River flowed across Epping Road near Wicks Road through what would have been the valley of a long-since buried natural water course. Houses were flooded and cars floated away. Not far away, the Lane Cove Weir collapsed. As I recall the first storm was centered in the Eastern Harbourside suburbs. Here are the rainfall readings at Sydney OH for November 6-9, 1984, where it was a less intense (mm): 98, 45, 44, 235. The first two days may have been one storm extending past 9:00 AM. Be that as it may, an extraordinary 422 mm (nearly 17”) fell in less than 96 hours. February 18th 1984 796mm in 24hrs at Wongawilli in the Illlawarra
