Is that a low of 19.3°C in August? Must be a record... That's right! August had a number of exceptionally cool nights - two under 20 C and five under 21 C. The record low at a different site is 21.8 C for August. However, that site is located in the middle of the urban heat island, so it's significantly warmer (especially the lows) than the Bang Na site, which is more on the outskirts of BKK.

December ended up being milder than average, aside from a handful of very cold days, and was also very dry. Average high: -4.9C (normal: -8.0C) Average low: -16.0C (normal: -18.3C) Mean temperature: -10.5C (normal: -13.2C) Warmest high: 3.8C (Dec 19th) Warmest low: -6.9C (Dec 8th) Coldest high: -18.1C (Dec 14th) Coldest low: -33.0C (Dec 13th) Precipitation total: 1.7mm (normal: 12.9mm) Precipitation days: 7 (normal: 9.7) And now for 2020 as a whole… Average high: 8.5C (normal: 8.6C) Average low: -4.5C (normal: -3.5C) Mean temperature: 2.0C (normal: 2.6C) Precipitation total: 297.4mm (normal: 353.7mm) Precipitation days: 103 (normal: 109.7) Sunshine stats will be out sometime next week. I imagine it will have above average sunshine yet again, as most recent years have had. Overall it started off with a slightly milder than average winter and was also a little warmer than average during the peak of summer and early fall, however most of the shoulder seasons were colder than normal and it was yet another dry year (despite a very wet June).

Atrocious month but at least we had that one day that brought the very low snow levels thanks to that awesome cold front. No accumulation at YVR, downtown, or where I live -- but many areas nearby got upwards of 20cm. Just bad luck. Hopefully the second half of this winter is less suicidal. Probably won't get snow till March/April at this rate. October with the second coldest minimum...

December 2020I spent all of December 2020 in the Chapel Hill/Durham area, but I'm too lazy to make a weatherbox for there right now. December was very rainy in the Raleigh-Durham area, with almost double the normal precipitation, including some tropical-type downpours on Christmas Eve. Temperatures were almost exactly average, but December featured the coolest temperatures of the year, as the winter of 2019-20 was very mild. There was a snow flurry early in the month, but like most Decembers, there was no measurable snow. This was the first December since 2005 to not hit 70°F/21°C. Annual2020 was the fifth warmest year on record in the Raleigh area, with the most anomalous months being January-March, July, and October-November. It was also about 10" (250 mm) wetter than normal. Here is the weatherbox for Oklahoma City, but the last few days of snowfall are missing. Oklahoma City was slightly cooler and wetter than normal this year.

*My sunshine hours are a few hundred hours off as my PWS gets like 2 hours of shade for most of the year. My real total is likely between 2500-2600, which makes me believe those old U.S. sunshine totals are legit. Highest Max: 97°F (36.2°C) on July 27th. Lowest Max: 31°F (-0.8°C) on Feb 15th, only ice day of the year! Highest Min: 80°F (26.4°C) on July 28th. Lowest Min: 14°F (-10.1°C) on Feb 15th. Winter was glorious by New York standards, I wish this was our normal. Every year March and/or April finds a way to fuck everything up, EVERY YEAR, 2012 (and maybe 2015) was our last good spring. This year April was absolutely dreadful, add in Covid-19 and it was a very miserable time. Summer was great, perfectly hot and humid, we had two landfalling tropical cyclones but not many thunderstorms, unfortunately. Fall was decent, touching 80°F (26.4°C) in November was nice. No snow fell between January 18th (2.5”) and December 9th (trace). January, February, and December all have the same exact average high, very odd.

A slightly dry, but otherwise fairly average December to finish a sunnier, slighly warmer, and extremely dry year for Auckland. 2020 broke the previous record low of 840mm in 1993 at the same site. A different site within the metro area recorded 716mm in 1885 however. My other locations during the year: Kerikeri: Blenheim:

Here there are my annual summaries. This year I remained in Grenoble until mid October and then moved back to my village in Italy, so I made the summaries for both places. Closest weather station to where I was staying in Grenoble: That weather station is quite young, it is operational since 2003 and so I can only compare the data with the 2003-2019 averages. However, in comparison to those data, it seems that the record high for August was broken, and the July max temp was also very close to the historical record [ref]. In comparison with that reference period, these average are 1.4°C warmer regarding the annual average high and 0.7°C regarding the lows, while the rain amount differs from the average of few mm. Here there is the closest weather station to my village instead Also in this case the weather station is not an official one, and the reference data series starts only in 1992. However, also in this case the year was warmer than the average, with +1.0°C regarding the annual average high and +0.6°C regarding the lows. The highest variation from the average was recorded in February, which had a couple of particularly insisting and warm foehn wind episodes that affected the averages of the whole month (particularly remarkable the data from Feb 3rd, with an high/low of 19.7/22.4°C in Susa). The year here was also particularly dry, in particular in the first two months of the year and in November (the latter usually being the second rainiest month of the year in here), resulting in about -300 mm of rain in comparison with the reference period.
