Not a lot of rain that August, nor April. Nope! The SE and Scania have this thing going for them to go full San Francisco during hot summers at times... Besides, I can't find open data for Umeå University for 2014 It’s not an SMHI station but owned by the university. Here’s their data gathering feature... www8.tfe.umu.se/weather-new/hamta_vaderdata.html

Mariehamn, Åland Islands, in 2010. What a freakshow that is. Winters were pretty much as bad as on the nearby Swedish mainland and probably similar to Turku too Ariete? Nevertheless, summer was a complete no-show while the coastlands of Uppland (Sweden) and basically all of Finland was soaked in a mega heatwave... What a poor excuse of a maritime climate that is.

I like it being 0.04C milder than Mariehamn, in spite of the latter being in the middle of the sea and this being a continental asf year

I like it being 0.04C milder than Mariehamn, in spite of the latter being in the middle of the sea and this being a continental asf year In such cold winters the Baltic Sea freezes around Åland, thus eliminating the island factor. But in the next decades Mariehamn will become much more oceanic as the sea won't freeze so much anymore.

Enschede, Twenthe, near the Dutch-German border in 1996. Looks like something that could might be a year up here with that coldness in winter except for April and October...

Gijón in 2014 - colder July highs by far than in Scandinavia, but impressive flat means from July to September, with October also being impressively warm!

an extremly cold january, and the warmest july ever. over 39C in monthly mean amplitude. Extreme amplitude for monthly mean for Northern Europe within the same year. To beat that one probably has to look in European Russia or Finland - or a different location in Sweden?. Several places in northern Norway had th same temps in July that year, but of course a very different January. Bardufoss in 2014 had extreme means -15.5C and 17.5C (Infoclimat so not 100 % accurate). Karasjok had ca 35.6C amplitude. What is the latitude and altitude of that place?

looked at finland.
kuusamo kitutaköngäs had a monthly mean amplitude of 44.0C in 1985 (february mean -29.7, july mean 14.3C)
a more recent and perhaps more interesting example is from kuusamo kitutaköngäs in 2003. (january mean -21.8C, july mean 18.3C, amplitude 40.1C)
