Chichijima. Norfolk's record high of 83 is a joke and neither of them get any meaningful cold.

Chichijima for being more seasonal and not having a fall/winter precipitation peak.

Norfolk Island is better in every way. Cooler, sunnier, drier.. Donβt you think the nearly two monthsβ worth more rain days would negate the 3 inches lower total? Norfolk Island is somehow sunnier, though.

Norfolk Island is somehow sunnier, though. Not when the precipitation day threshold is more than double. Anyway, the 500 more sunshine hours and much more comfortable temps more than make up for it.

Chichijima is a bit more interesting and has a better precipitation pattern

Norfolk Is..... very equable climate with no extremes of heat or cold. Pretty well green countryside all year around, although sometimes a short drought ( and army worms ) coincide to brown off the land. Sometimes the DP's and humidity is quite high with low cloud and misty conditions. Some big seas run with winter storms ( remnants of Aussie ECL's or East Coast Lows ) affecting the place. And the remnants of Tropical Cyclones may impact the Island some years. I've only been there ( working ) in summer and even I ( acclimatised to the wet tropics ) found the humidity uncomfortable. At the time the lack of power generation on the Island meant no Airconditioners in use, except at the Hospital and the Telstra Facility. Friends who have spent winter months there tell me you rarely need coats or jackets, but there is a fair bit of damp weather during the winter months.

Chichijima for being more seasonal, and climates with 83Β°F record highs are a joke.

Chichijima; easy answer. Glad to see I'm not the only one who noticed Norfolk Island's PATHETIC record highs. I mean, a sea level place at 28'S can't get above 83'F for crying out loud?

Norfolk Island of course. Sunnier, and not as hot and humid in summer.

Chichijima, despite being much cloudier. Both are really nice, but Norfolk's summer doesn't seem really "beachy", which I would say is mandatory for an island climate. Sydney has similar summer means, but actually gets some properly hot days whereas Norfolk Island never gets over 28 C. Plus, Norfolk has a winter rainfall peak that seems out of place in a subtropical climate. Norfolk's record high is so mild that I thought it must be a mistake. It's even cooler than some subantarctic islands! But I checked with the BoM and it appears to be accurate. This climate must have one of the lowest differences between mean temps and record temps of any climate on Earth:

Chichijima for being warmer year round. Norfolk Island is still a pretty good climate though...

A persistence forecast is probably more likely to be accurate than any of the major forecast sites. Absolutely putrid.

Norfolk Island. Both are mind numbing dogshit so Iβd rather be comfortable all year and just forget that weather exists.

Chichijima because it's warmer and wetter, although both of these are very good climates.

Norfolk Island for being sunnier and less muggy

Norfolk Island for being sunnier and less muggy Trust me, the summers can be extremely muggy, my first 2 or 3 days there the whole island was socked in due to mist/low clouds/fog and they closed the airport. The motel i was staying at ( indeed the whole island except the hospital and telsta facility ) had no aircon. My room had moisture/dew running down the inside walls, the bedclothes, chairs etc felt damp. And like a horror movie set on the Yorkshire moors, the mist/fog flowed through the front door and out the back door....was really freaky and the only time I've ever seen that before. But it cleared up and one day the max temp got to nearly 28c, enough to have a swim at one of the only 2 sandy beaches.
