Dang, Helsinki centre recorded a low of -0.4C today, and it was their first freeze in April, the last being on 27 March. The station has never failed not to record a freeze in the month of April, and sadly didn't manage it this year either. Sad! Linton on Ouse has had 16 lows below 0C so far this month... More like a typical January.

First chance of the spring of a thunderstorm, of course we jump straight to severe weather from snow. Kind of excited to see if it develops, most likely will be strong thunderstorms with high winds and lightning.
alex992 Classic west of the Appalachians storms again, leaving DC out of event the general storm risk.

Enormous UHI this morning again, even within the city limits with 10.7°C @ Paris-Lariboisière vs 1.5°C @ Paris-Longchamp 10 km from there! -1.7°C @ Fontainebleau, Paris region's coldest spot. Relative humidity yesterday at 4 pm, loads of places in the 20s: Damper today with some rain. 82% RH rn and I can even see my breath! Some CtG lightning in the SE suburbs too:

Models are showing a line of storms coming thru around 10-11PM tonite, feeling like a marginal risk is warranted. Storms often get shred to bits here due to less convection on the coast though, so we'll see. Anyway, got up to 81 today but a more marine flow came in and knocked us down to 76. It was still more of a dry warmth, 32% humidity, but dews now should rise. Should also see lows in the 60s today and tomorrow.

This is the time of the year where the average high is pretty much the same across all the Canadian cities.
Was looking a few days back and average high in all these places was either 14C or 15C:
Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal

Very cold first half of May on the cards here. Infact it looks like the warmest day of March will not be equalled or surpassed until probably late May or early June!
April mean currently 7.9c which is colder than March!

First official thunderstorm of the year today in the capital region. Saw lightning while I was observing rain through the window for a brief moment. The storm peaked in my area around 20h and became calm after 20 minutes, but the roaring sound lasted longer about an hour.

Only one sub-freezing low in the forecast after tonight! And a low of 7C on Friday (along with a 23C high) which will be awesome if it happens.
Also, our dew point is only at -3.4C this evening rather than being at like -10C like it's been in recent days during the afternoon/evening, so that's nice even if it's still too dry. And the spring bloom seems to be gaining momentum, with lots of grass starting to turn green and more buds visible in the trees. Finally starting to properly feel like spring.

North Norman just got hit by a severe thunderstorm with 2"+ (5 cm+) hail. There are reports of window damage from hailstones. Thankfully my neighborhood was spared the hail.

Picked up a 2 day total of 0.83” (21 mm) from yesterday to this morning. No thunderstorms unfortunately though. This puts the month above average for precipitation despite the dry start.
The northern foothills (of the ones visible from Fort Collins) got snow yesterday and had a nice snowcap. Horsetooth and the ones to the south didn’t get any despite being slightly higher.

Looks like finally a decent day in this cool April: South East wind and sunny, high should be 14C in Riga.
