Saskatoon officially hit a high of 32.6C yesterday, breaking the previous daily record of 30.6C set in 1901. Nipawin, Saskatchewan hit 33.0C which is apparently the warmest temperature in Canada this year.
Today we're heading up to 29C and then dropping off the edge of the cliff after that as we hit a high of only 13C tomorrow and in the single digits for the next couple days after that.

What in the fuck is that.....only upper 30s and 40s in the middle of the afternoon in VA just four days away from June?! That is shocking, and only low 50s in NC while it's triple digits only a few hours drive further south.....ridiculous lol. I don't mind the heat though. Late May is when I start getting a strong interest in summer, so that heat wave is just fine with me. Hopefully hot enough to be interesting. Nothing interesting here today however, 79 F (26.1 C) with a 65 F (18.3 C) dew point as of 9 am with an easterly breeze at 15 mph.....morning low was 76 F (24.4 C) and we're headed up to 84 F (28.9 C) with a 20% chance of showers this afternoon and breezy conditions. Boring weather.

The 100s in the South actually have a good chance of happening next week. Euro's latest run shows 100s in VA, 90s here, and even 90 stretching into New England. When the Euro shows it, it's actually believable. The cold that the GFS showed is just a sign of it being delusional.

Well today was a bit of a fail. We only hit 26C, well short of our 29C forecast high. Still a nice day, though.
What's not nice is that the large storms that are passing through various parts of the province and Alberta are totally missing Saskatoon, so still no precipitation for us, nor for Prince Albert where a large wildfire is burning just outside the city.

Because people can't travel abroad to warm climates for a real summer this year, the Met Office has released important advice on how Brits can cope with the heat of summer in Britain. It is really important that all we Brits follow this advice and stay safe from the heat this summer.

Pretty fucking hot in the east, pretty fucking shitty in the west.
Ilomantsi Pötsönvaara has recorded at least 30.4C, while it's 14C in Turku. Very surprising for me. I knew it would be hot in the east today, but definitely did not expect 30C to be broken.

30.8C seems to have been the highest reading in Pötsönvaara, and also the whole country. Several places hit 30C.
Turku will fail to hit 15C today, and Kronoby hit 10C for the last time at 21:00 yesterday.

The high 15.5c in Võru today, cloudy and the low was 11.9c. Lilacs are now blooming now here. The situation with temperatures was better in the northeast, where due to the eastern position of the region it was warmer and the highs were over 20c. The warmest was Narva with 22.7c, so this is not 30c but it is still more than on the infoclimat map posted by Ariete, lol (I do not know if I am too pessimistic, but it is not impossible that the same pattern will be repeated here as it was in the last two years: cold May, followed by warm June - and which in turn will lead to a cold July. I have noticed that sometimes May and July are similar - if May is poor, then July is also poor. And vice versa. )

And just 10 days ago, Pöstönvaara had 18cm of snow on the ground... That's pretty extreme www.infoclimat.fr/climatologie-mensuelle/02766/mai/2021/ilomantsi-potsonvaar.html

Early-season heat continues in subarctic W. Russia. This isn't even "exceptional" these days. Seems to happen every year, that I'm hearing about 90°F and such nonsense happening inside the arctic circle nowadays.

First 20 days of May Update
Usually it's half monthly but i've been busy and forgot. I might have to message BoM about the Jandakot station, for the last year or so its lows have consistently been well above average (especially in comparison to monthly anomalies at nearby sites being nowhere near as extreme), maybe there has been a new building moved near the station which is affecting this?
Jandakot Babyyyy High Max: 28.5C (11th) Mean Max: 23.1C (+1.1C) Low Max: 18.9C (14th)
High Min: 17.5C (4th) Mean Min: 11.9C (+2.6C) Low Min: 7.2C (2nd)
Rain: 43.0mm Sun: 120.7 hrs (6.4hrs a day)
