A large wildfire burning just outside of Prince Albert, the 3rd largest city in Saskatchewan (about 150km northeast of Saskatoon). Hot temperatures, high winds, and extreme drought are not a good combination. There have been evacuations from certain neighbourhoods and 9000 homes are currently without power. Thankfully it seems to be moving away from the city at the moment. Damn, that's not good. Seems like there's a very extensive wildfire in Manitoba too. Yeah, a good chunk of the prairies is in a severe drought right now, so these recent hot and windy conditions have been prime for wildfire spread. Luckily some cooler and potentially wetter weather is on the way in the coming days.

I went storm chasing with a few friends in central Kansas back on Saturday, May 8. We didn't see any tornadoes, but we saw some cool storm structure. This first pic is from the highway on the way out.

It was cool and cloudy, it rained in the late afternoon and evening. The lake in the evening during the rain. But these yellow plants smell pleasantly and look nice even on a cloudy day, not to mention a sunny and warm day.

Absolutely jarring images from the Canadian Prairies and New Jersey. Drought is an abomination. Last summer killed a birch tree in my parents' backyard. I'd also wager about 50% of the spruces in lowland northern France have died since last summer. Some spots look like spruce cemetaries. It's good that they're not native so not that widespread but there were still some plantations here and there. Anyway skies have been really pretty lately apart from today's ugly warm front overcast crap. Cold altitude air in the warmer half of the year almost always leads to nice convective skies. Here are some pics from yesterday: Same spot on vid; love the chant of crickets. What period of the year do they sing where you are? Nimbocumulus. Nimbocumulus everywhere. Left Right Ahead You can see smoke rising from the asphalt after each shower. Not really obvious from the photo but oh well... Doesn't look like much but I got serious hail under this one. After the downpour, congestus clouds ready to develop into cb's as well. Such is the endless cycle of life. <333 Got only rain under this one. It managed to cool the temp down to 8°C though: In contrast to that, today's featureless gray skies were depressing. Absolutely nightmarish weather for May: overcast, windy, cool and dry. I'm sure the shade from street trees will come in handy at some point this summer though. It's paulownia season in gay Paree.

As I had a lot of time on my hands I recently travelled to the Riviera driving on backroads. The nature is gorgeous this time of year. Stopping in the cute town of Annecy The day after in the mountains at dawn.

Went for a nice long walk yesterday evening. It was 10C and drizzling at the time these were taken, right on the tail end of the rain storm. We received 33.0mm altogether, our first real proper rainy day in over 8 months and our first day with over 10mm of rain in nearly 9 months, and it felt absolutely amazing.

Some flowers that are currently in bloom. Overall, it looks like summer, but certainly doesn't feel like it yet.

Stuck in quarantine, but at least I have a garden I can go into & as it was a nice day I decided to mow the lawn. So nice to be surrounded by so much greenery & it's a novelty to even see grass, let alone cut it.

First day above 20C since March! The ducks were enjoying it Nice spot to have a garden. We took a walk in the woods. No idea who this was, but he was a cool dude, so we hung out with him for a while. What variety of mushroom is this? Obligatory vantage point shots. Clouds were nice and fluffy.
