Saw a Canadian lynx run across the road today east of Kenora. Was the 2nd time I've seen one in my life (first time was in Yukon).

I watched it glide across the snow and hide under a tree. Awesome animal.

Scientists have developed an oral contraceptive for grey squirrels. This is great news for a number of reasons. Firstly, it will allow the UK to eradicate the invasive grey squirrel population without having to kill them. Secondly, the native red squirrels, who were pushed to the edge of extinction by the greys, will be able to repopulate their old habitats. And finally, I'll no longer have to wear a condom when I fuck squirrels. www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-62096272

The Greenpeace blighters are winning and taking the food out from the mouth of the splendid the salt-of-the-salty sea peoples:
Faroe Islands to limit dolphin hunt after outcry
The Faroe Islands is to provisionally limit its controversial dolphin hunt to 500 animals, after receiving widespread criticism over last year's cull, where more than 1,400 were killed.
A review was ordered in February, in response to the outcry.
Animal rights activists have long decried the hunt, deeming the slaughter cruel and unnecessary.
Faroe Islanders give the practice their broad support, arguing the dolphins have fed them for centuries.
Known as the grind (or Grindadrap in Faroese), the hunting of sea mammals - primarily whales - is a tradition that has been practised for hundreds of years on the remote islands, a Danish autonomous territory in the North Atlantic.
But the scale of the killing last year shocked many locals and even drew criticism from groups involved in the practice. Records showed that it was the largest number of dolphins ever killed on one day in the Faroe Islands.
Now the government has limited the annual catch of white-sided dolphins to 500 for the next two years. Only the dolphin hunt is currently being reviewed, not the entire grind tradition.
Shoot the greenie-leftist bastards!

Lost walrus spotted in the eastern coastal town of Hamina
There are normally no walruses in the Baltic Sea, so she is mighty lost. This might be the first time in Finnish history when a walrus had made landfall. This specimen has earlier been spotted in Germany, Poland and Latvia.

Now the walrus is in Kotka, swam up a river, and is chilling on some dude's yard. On arrival it destroyed the clothes-drying rack, causing tens of euros of damages.
The walrus, named Stena, is probably a resident of Svalbard, and got lost during the winter. Originally spotted around Ålesund in Western Norway, she took a wrong turn and started to head south.

The walrus died in transit when moving it to Korkeasaari zoo hospital in Helsinki. She was exhausted, stressed and malnourished which led her to not being able to swim long distances anymore. Giving the sedation shot was the final straw. Sadly she took a few too many wrong turns.
