Landing at the world's shortest runway in Flight Simulator

Ariete is a Russian Alcoholic , have you already bought Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020? I've watched some youtube videos about it, and damn it looks nice. I don't think I'll buy it as the full version is โฌ120 and a decent joystick with separate throttle is like โฌ150. Pedals, another โฌ150.
Lol, I've seen videos of those glitchy towers popping up in random places. There's one in the northern suburbs of Melbourne I think, the Fawkner Citadel
Hopefully by the time I scrape enough money together to purchase a rediculous gaming rig, these will be patched. FSX had similar issues with bridges being in the wrong places., and there were 2 "service packs" released which fixed that, which were eventually included on the FSX installation DVDs and also for download.

Oh yeah I've seen MS Flight Simulator. Truly spectacular, to the point where some of the vids and screenshots are almost indistinguishable from real life. I'm going to have to start saving up for a proper gaming rig, my laptop ain't running that! Full version I believe is something like $170, fuck that really isn't much considering. The cost of the full program is tiny compared to what I will have to spend on hardware to be able to run it. $170 is more or less spare change. Getting FSX up to near that level with addons would literally cost into the thousands. Only thing is, while I haven't researched, but apparently, to generate the environment, one needs an internet connection? I am on a 120gig/month plan, if that is not enough well then I am screwed.
All of the environment is in a cloud online, and the landscape loads as you fly further. (50 km ahead in all directions?) I think your altitude matters as well.

^^^ That makes sense. Optarse has released a new 500gb mobile plan, it also comes with a preferential treatment. I might have to get that. But, by the time I get around to buying and assembling a rig worthy of this flight sim, there'll probably be a 1000gb or more plan. Apparently the sim has a 600km draw distance.
Doing some research on processors, motherboards, memory, and GPUs, and I am looking at spending some serious coin on those components alone. Time to start putting those pennies (more like $100 notes) away. The 4K UHD monitor will be by far the cheapest component lol

But fuck, it'll be beyond worth it.
Microsoft has stated that Flight Simulator isn't a game but a project, and are planning several updates, so people still play it after 10 years. So an investment now might carry a long time into the future.

Got a massive tax return, so it looks like I will be able to put together a beast of a rig for FS2020. I wanted to budget 4k originally (despite AJ's protestations) but now I have well more than that, although I still want to keep things sane. Much research must be done yet to find out what components the sim taxes the most, and direct most of the funds to those particular parts. Any leftover change will spent on a home entertainment system and a decent couch.

Meanwhile I told real life to go fuck itself.
You should get one of the RTX 3000 series cards when they are available.
Apparently the 3090 can render FS2020 @60fps in 8k, if you have an 8k display that is.

RTX 3000 series is a risky business, as it's totally unproven and we don't know how much cooling it requires in the long run, or even know if FS2020 is even optimised for "8k". 8k is really just a marketing gimmick because it goes beyond most people's visual capabilities and comprehension. For a normal moving eye 4k is the highest resolution we can actually physically be able to see. So consider that. Species like eagles can see in 8k, humans cannot.
RTX 2080Ti or Super is good enough for at least the next 5 years, and is several hundred AUD cheaper.
If you don't play much strategy games or do other things like 3D rendering, any 10th generation iCore-7H/K will do, or even a -5H/K. Don't even think about a I-9, because you won't need it, so you will save a couple of $ AUD again. I have a iCore-8750H and for strategy games it's actually overpowered because the highest speed is way too fast for good gameplay. In addition, as it's a laptop it has severe cooling issues.
Very few games as of today are optimised for 64 gb of RAM, so that should not be a priority. 32 gb should be more than enough, and if you later want to get a new stick, they aren't that expensive.
For the hard drives, SSDs have dropped in price like fuk. A year ago my extra internal 500 gb hard drive was โฌ90, now you can get a 1 tb for that price. Be sure to buy two of those, you'll need it.

Should I get Red Dead Redemption 2 while it's still on sale on Steam? The game looks amazing from the videos I've seen and I'd love to play it but one of the only real problems is that it takes up 150GB of hard drive space.

Just got Nintendo Switch
Played the Mario Kart and Super Mario Odyssey
Dind't like Mario Kart much tbh, maybe because I haven't played in a while and a bit rusty. Also feel like the maps got a bit too cartoony and convoluted
But Super Mario Odyssey is a fantastic game. Incredibly creative, makes me wonder who the hell came up with all these ideas. Feels like they took Super Mario 64 and injected it with steroids. Absolutely love the Tostarena stage, especially the small town. Also some really unique boss battles, I love the one where you have to possess the spiky dog thing and attack the owner with it

I have Mario Odyssey, fantastic game, but what you need to get is Zelda BOTW, and The Witcher 3. Two of the best games of all time, that are luckily on the Switch.
We may not see you for another 6 months, but it'll be worth it for yourself.
