Were you hoping for significant thunderstorms? The forecast looked pretty promising a few days ago for them. No, I am fine with a calmer weather when nothing happens. There have been heavier thunderstorms elsewhere in Latvia, but nothing significant in Riga. P.S. The Shining is a good movie. 🙂 Yeah I watched it a couple days ago for the first time in a long time. It's still good! I should read the book. Up to 26C now under sunny skies.

High 28.0c, low 18.5c.
The day was sunny but tonight we went on a short bike ride. On the way back at 7 pm we were caught in a decent thunderstorm and heavy rain. We took shelter from the thunder and rain at a bus stop made of plexiglass and metal, 5-6 km from home. We were lucky because it was a larger kind of village with such a bus stop. There are usually no such cabins for bus stops. We waited there for an hour and a half and were happy when the thunder and torrential rain ended.

Kamloops, BC currently has six consecutive days with highs above 40C in the forecast! Absolutely insane heatwave over Western Canada this coming week.

80/64 and dry today -- standard June weather. 5 days of 90s coming starting Sunday but nothing compared to the PNW heatwave. It's probably the craziest, most anomalous weather event in my life, ever. That's not an exaggeration. Makes me dream, if we get the right setup here, the same can happen. So much potential!

Paradise was 68°F at 3 am, hot air moving not much diurnal cycle. Camp Muir has no diurnal cycle at all. Paradise reached 71 yesterday, 72 a week ago. Heat hasn't reached 10,000 feet yet. Lapse rates will be very steep (heat wave is from descending dry air heating up) so I'm guessing Camp Muir won't get that hot

Marine layer in the early morning burned off for a nice average summer day. 85/69 and DP of 70, but still comfortable.

There's a very real possibility that Calgary and Edmonton will break their all-time heat records twice this coming week. Not the case in Saskatoon, but we've now got five consecutive days in the forecast above 30C with four of those being above 33C, something I don't think I've ever seen before.

Looks like the low only dropped down to 73 F/23 C and as of the 8AM update it is 76 F/24 C with a dewpoint of 70 F/21 C. Forecast is now calling for 90 F/32 C so maybe we'll get 4 days in a row of 90+.

We've had some heavy rain the past two nights, leading to a total of 4.09" (103.9 mm). That's almost our June average rainfall, but we had almost no rain earlier in the month, so it balances out. Right now it's mostly cloudy with a 80°F (28.5°C) temperature and a 71°F (21.5°C) dewpoint.

Nice skies over the western suburbs this evening: I came back home thru a park, puddles are huge and trees are dripping. Awesome atmosphere, especially given that it's muggyish.

Despite an early afternoon cool down, Shitchester hit the forecast high at 93 (34 c). That’s the hottest temp so far this year.
I am so fucking jealous of the PNW heatwave and their multiple days of epic record shattering heat!

89/74 and DP around 70 today. Partly sunny and comfortable though, nice warm southerly breeze today. Turning up the heat this week with mid 90s at least for the next three days, then Thursday/Friday looks like scattered thunderstorms. Cooler and drier for the weekend.

Despite an early afternoon cool down, Shitchester hit the forecast high at 93 (34 c). That’s the hottest temp so far this year. Looks the 75 (24 c) low held too. That actually ties 1934 for the hottest June low ever! Well that was a nice surprise to find out.

All of the Wimmera area and parts of the Mallee had sub-10C highs today, most likely due to widespread fog that struggled to clear.
