We've got a late night thunderstorm rolling through and it's a big one! Torrential downpour, massive lightning flashes, and building rumbling thunder. There's a severe thunderstorm watch in effect now. Definitely did not expect this considering it was just a plain cool rainy day up until now!

True.
6.1C low here this morning, it's shit, coldest temp since 30 May. August should be beach weather, not this Kändelstan/Fairbanks style crap.
Rovaniemi Apukka and Sodankylä had their first freeze. Sodankylä Lokka went down to -2.4C.

Rovaniemi Apukka and Sodankylä had their first freeze. Sodankylä Lokka went down to -2.4C. I'd easily take that over 85 F (29.4 C) with a 76 F (24.4 C) dew point at fucking 5 am. Somebody fucking kill me now pls. I'll even buy the gun, bullets, and plane ticket for you. You choose the location. Headed up to 92 F (33.3 C) with scattered thunderstorms today.

Those numbers are pretty ordinary, and would be about as bad as it gets in Darwin.....although we do have more than a few like that every season....it really is crap !

Yeah this is about as bad as it gets here as well. Typically summer lows are about 24-25 C (75-77 F). Happens on days where it doesn't rain so nothing to cool the air, same story in Darwin? Absolute horseshit. Look how rain chances get dicked the second they move into the Miami / Ft. Lauderdale area.

We got 16.1mm of rain yesterday and I'm pretty sure that doesn't count the massive downpours from the thunderstorm, which came just after the cut-off point I believe. So we're now at 28.2mm of rain for the month with probably another 5 to 10 from last night's storm. We'll still probably end up below average but not by that much after all.
Feels pretty good, even with these unseasonably cool temperatures it's been nice to have some consistent rain over the past few days, hopefully this helps alleviate our drought situation a bit.

Any snow from that or all cold rain? Obs posts on Ski.com.au forums report snowfalls up to 10–15 cm in East Jindabyne (higher up than Jindabyne proper though - more like 1,000–1,150 m AMSL). Around 5 cm in the town @ 950 m or so.

Just had the greatest week of August weather I have ever experienced. Hasn’t reached 70f here in several days.
I hike to work every morning. My office is up in the hills at 1200ft ASL near Grizzly Peak so even 65 has been hard to reach in recent days.
For the weekend I went down to the SF pier where it was cloudy 61f with blasting wind. All in all, it’s still a little bit warmer than my ideal summer weather, but it feels great to be alive. Thank you marine layer.

Airport reported a thunderstorm a the first temp below 80 F (26.7 C) since the 21st. w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KMIA.htmlToday's high temp is predicted at 91 F (32.8 C) with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Since August 16th, we've only had 0.20" (5 mm) of rain and only one night below 80 F (26.7 C), and yesterday we had a low of 84 F (28.9 C). Horrific stretch of weather.

Certainly sounds almost as boring as our weather... you'd think such a poor summer month was wet but this Boregust can't even do that - despite having some form of precipitation on 17 days this month, we've had a massive 28.2mm (1.11") of rain all month! When the UK weather gets so boring that it can't even rain properly either, you know something's wrong. Now we have a lovely "anticyclonic gloom" - cloud caught up in the high pressure - what more could you expect from this abomination of a month. Ugh, roll on September. I bet you that by mid-September we'll have sunny 25°C weather. Just wait.
