Temps have been 88F or above every day since October 8 and 90F or above 3 days this week. Lows around 70F this past week. Front arrived here last night. Yesterday had a high of 92F (warmest it's been this month). Down to 55F right now (this is the normal low for today's date; normal high is 80F). Broken line of storms ahead of the front yesterday evening. I don't think I got any rain with it. Today's forecast high is 73F with a low of 47F tonight!

Well we managed to make it to 80 F/27 C yesterday. The warm weather this time of year is rather benign since the days are shorter and the sun angle is lower but still impressive nonetheless. Hopefully that will be it in terms of 80s until next spring.
Mild but comfortable morning with a breeze (overcast and 68 F/20 C at 9AM). Cloudy with showers and a high of 74 F/23 C today. Much cooler tomorrow with a high of only 60 F/16 C.

Yesterday was the first day of the month that was close to average. Finally feels like October weather. The dry summer and warm fall did not help the fall colors this year. The trees that started to turn in September are mostly bare now, but a lot of trees are still green. So there is some green, some dull yellow or orange, and some bare trees. Some years they all turn around the same time and the colors are vibrant for a few weeks.

Weather past few days: 10/14; 79/66, 10/15; 83/66. Nice October heat wave, certainly the last 80s of the year yesterday, coming 12 days later than average. Today was 77/62 with thundershowers and breezy conditions ahead of the cold front passage.

Montpelier, Vermont has not recorded a freeze and none is in its forecast yet. September October obviously Burlington and southern New England hasn't if Montpelier hasn't yet, but Montpelier is more interesting. Appears nowhere in the Northeast has recorded a freeze yet except for maybe a few frost hollows in mountain regions (Saranac Lake, NY; Whitefield, NH). Summit of Mount Mansfield hasn't recorded a freeze either. There was a cool, cloudy airmass beginning of October and Mount Washington got a freeze as well as snow above 5500 feet. but nothing below that. Boston reached the low 50s during that cool cloudy spell, otherwise lows have been around 60

First freeze of the season here! Low of 31 F (-0.6 C) this morning, 32 F (0.0 C) with a 30 F (-1.1 C) dew point as of 7 am. w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KSTC.htmlTalk about an over performance, last night's predicted low was only 37 F (2.8 C) so I was NOT expecting a freeze at all. This is still exactly three weeks late (Average first freeze is Sept 26) but I'm just happy we didn't break the record for latest freeze, and very pleasantly surprised that last night dropped that much, since it was still 47 F (8.3 C) at about 10 pm. Now we have a chance at a 40 F (22.2 C) diurnal today, as the predicted high is 68 F (20 C) and sunny.

Heavy rain overnight then overcast all day with on and off drizzle. Very cool, barely breaking 26 C. Epic diurnal range:

Today will almost certainly be our last day above 20C this year. Next one should be in 6 months or so. It's been a good run this year for sure.

Now we have a chance at a 40 F (22.2 C) diurnal today, as the predicted high is 68 F (20 C) and sunny. Didn't end up getting a 40 F (22.2 C) diurnal today, ended up hitting exactly the forecast high (68 F / 20 C) so the diurnal was 37 F (20.6 C) which is still quite big. w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KSTC.htmlI was hoping to hit 71 F (21.7 C) today to get that, one of the few times in fall you'll see me cheering for an overperformance with the high. As of 7 pm, it's 57 F (13.9 C) with a 39 F (3.9 C) dew point, headed down to 39 F (3.9 C) with clear skies tonight. Tomorrow will be quite warm for the time of year, 73 F (22.8 C) predicted and Tuesday as well, though not quite as warm (67 F / 19.4 C predicted) but a good cooldown is coming for Wednesday onto the weekend.

It's still 13C at 10:00pm tonight. This will almost certainly be the last night of the year until we're above 10C this late into the day. Next time probably won't be until April or May next year.
