At least "weather", "social media" and "viral" journalism seems to.
Even the paparazzi secretly taking photos of celebrities in bikinis requires some professionalism, like successfully hiding in a bush.

Unfortunately most journalism that gains traction these days falls within these categories. I won't go too much off topic but in Beercules' linked article it basically shows how they treat the reader like a fucking idiot with only 7 days worth of short term memory.

Last night had a light dusting of snow, 0.3β (1 cm) fell but it stuck around much of the morning. Temp got down to 24 (-5 c), tonight will get colder.
High was only 39 (4 c), a bit change from yesterdayβs 69 (21 c). Thatβs the first 30 f drop in highs of the season.

Today is Latvian independence day. And the weather has been quite good for November with sunshine which is normally so rare in this month. Min 4C and max 8C at Riga airport. Freedom monument today:

Dipped to 15 (-9 c) this morning, by far the coldest temp this season.
Apparently yesterday was the 2nd latest first sub-25 on record. Just 1 day off the record set in 2016.

Well, last night's storm dropped a decent amount of snow on us but thankfully not enough to be really debilitating. Unfortunately though we did get hit with fairly icy roads. Traffic was fairly slow all-around today. I had a very hairy moment this evening on a thankfully empty and wide open road, when I hit the brakes as I was coming up to an intersection (only going around 25 km/h) and there was a full 3 or 4 seconds where the car simply didn't slow down whatsoever, despite pressing the brake pedal to the floor and the ABS kicking in as hard as it could. Nowhere else was quite that bad thankfully, but stopping at intersections is always sketchy in these conditions, and starting up afterwards is quite a slog. I don't mind snow on the ground but ice sucks. That's the advantage of mid-winter snowfalls, it's cold enough that they tend to be powdery snow rather than having a rain/snow mix and temperatures straddling the freezing line like we've had the past couple days. 90% of Vancouver snowfalls are like this. Combine that with all the hills throughout the region and it's a recipe for disaster every time.

End of November Coldspell ? I want a record breaking coldspell just to confuse the global warming cultists. Subarctic Povember all over SE Australia, there's been perhaps 4 months since the start of 2020 that have been above avg, and can barely go a couple of days without freaking rain. But, I am sure the AGW baboons will find a way to blame it on global warming. Probably along the lines of "all the CO2 created more cl0ud".

2016-17 was a good winter (great by 21st century standards) here. A repeat would be great! December and January were good, January reached -16 (-27 c) here and the December cold snap had -20s in the southeast plains (the warmest part of the state). Followed by both the 2nd warmest February and March though.

Followed by both the 2nd warmest February and March though. For here, December and February were good. January was not that good though, as it's been for most of the past 30 years. Traditionally it's by far our coldest winter month but we've mostly seen spring or fall-like weather during the month recently. Case in point, Vancouver airport hasn't reached -10c in January since 2004! It really sticks out like a sore thumb considering it used to happen in January once every couple years or even multiple times in the month.
