There numbers were tiny? How do you know that did you go back in time and and count every single large mammal? How can you possibly say to someone to use their mind less are you insane? That's the problem with the world right now people are not using their mind and only relying on a few government approved experts which appear on mainstream television and on the first page of Google. There's a monopoly on information and only the ones which are backed by mainstream are put forth for you to consume. The Earth goes through natural cycles in temperature we are currently in a interglacial period - this is from the experts I just don't believe EVERYTHING. I do think the earth is probably warming a little but not that long ago the earth was actually slightly cooler (we are recovering from that) I think it would be a good idea for you to use your mind more and your knowledge of how complex the climate system is - you know this right ? Computer models can't firm up over a week ago let alone 10 years. In the UK we've had wetter summers, cloudier winters and we continue to see snowfall on a yearly basis. Last winter in the UK was particularly cold especially in Scotland - snow on the ground for weeks (I went up there alot last year)
Yes I went back in time and counted them you tool.
The climate has changed a lot many times before, but not with this pace ever. This is completely unprecedented and is because of human influence. Period.
And yes, people should listen to experts instead of "doing their own research", because most people don't have the expertise or know-how for conducting research properly.
Have you done this properly?
No? Then fuck off.
"Doing your own research" doesn't always have to end in writing a paper. Most people are not in academia. Referencing/sourcing any raw data or statistics to back up your claim(s) should be good enough in many cases. Provided you can source your claim with that stuff, I don't see much of a problem, especially on spaces like social media platforms or online forums.

Sure, but for most "doing their own research" is abandoning the scientific consensus in favour of facebook posts and youtube videos which are likely complete codswallop or outlight lying. So is the case this time as well, and the poster has also previously being prone to conspiratory thinking.

That's understandable. I wasn't attempting wade into the topic you guys were discussing, just trying to make a more general point regarding the common rebuttal to the "do your own research" slogan.

Extreme rainfall in St. Lucie County today, especially around the White City and River Park areas. SFWMD raindar estimates places some spots above 12" (305 mm) in 24 hrs. The highest daily total from any PWS in the area on the WU network is 11.19" (284.2 mm). Our 4-day rain event is finally coming to an end, as the sun finally came out this afternoon. My total was 2.47", as measured by both my PWS automated gauge and my manual gauge. Drier weather is in store for this week.

Classic November weather, mostly cloudy today with a high/low of 56/47 @ LGA and 55/40 @ Farmingdale. Cold front coming thru tonight into tomorrow with light rain, then behind the front looks like freezes down to UHI and coastal zones. Hit 70 last Thursday, so could go from 70 to freezing in 5 days. That happens a good amount in March, but not in the stable fall season, especially for a UHI area.

Cold and sunny here as well. High was 3.3C and low was -6.9C.
First wet snow / sleet has been falling during the last hour. Just snowy enough to give the grass a hint of white, and accumulating somewhat on windscreens on cars, so not much. Likely some accumulation will come during the night.

I'll be back in North Carolina for Thanksgiving. The forecast looks slightly below average and dry for most of the time.

Rain Clouds Close In Again Over Eastern Australia ( source: Weatherzone ) November has been relentlessly wet across a broad area of central and eastern Australia and another outbreak of rain and thunderstorms will affect the eastern half of the country this week. This will come hot on the heels of Tuesday's declaration by the Bureau of Meteorology of a second La Niña event in as many summers. Let's take a look at three of the factors behind this week's wet weather. The first is atmospheric moisture left behind by the system that crossed northern NSW and southern QLD over the weekend. Winds circulating around this weak low brought plenty of Coral Sea moisture over eastern parts of the country but there was no strong cold front following to clear the humid air mass to the east with its passage. The second factor is humid tropical air that's streaming across Australia from the Indian Ocean, where Tropical Cyclone Paddy was named on Monday. This tropical air will supplement the abundant moisture that's already in place over eastern Australia. Finally, there's another low pressure system spinning up over the Great Australian Bight. This will serve both to concentrate the moisture over eastern Australia and to destabilise the atmosphere. This destabilisation, brought about by cool upper air associated with the low, is what converts the moisture into cloud, rain and thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms and flooding are a risk for many areas during the coming days so it's advisable to stay up to date with forecasts and weather warnings.
