An extreme 90.4 mm has fallen here since yesterday afternoon—and still raining at a healthy rate! My monthly and yearly totals are now at 300.3 mm and 1,880.4 mm respectively.

Benfxmth, rozenn: Utsjoki Kevo had a -26.4C high and -29.6C low today. The station has been operational since 1962, and this was the 17th day in November in history with a high as low as this. So 0.9% of all possible November days since records started.

It seemed like we were heading into a cold snap recently, but now our forecast has suddenly gone super mild on us, with half the days this coming week expected to go above freezing, which I'm very happy about. Seems to have happened a lot in recent winters, some seasonal cold during November and then suddenly an uncharacteristically mild warmup towards the end of the month and into the beginning of December.
I wonder if this will become our fourth winter out of five where we have a relatively decent Nov/Dec/Jan and then February comes along and dumps all of the cold snaps we didn't have all at once.

Red warning for wind, means there could be loss of life for anyone stupid enough to be outside in it.

Edit: I didn't see that Meteo had already maded posts about this ^^^ A strong storm is moving in this evening, an amber warning has been issued for my area. Near-freezing temperatures and winds up to 70/80mph are expected. A proper winter storm, definitely a night to stay indoors. Also a bad night to be a fence-sitter, since they're all going to be blown down.

Most of western Europe should see highs 5-10°F below normal this weekend—and into Monday/Tuesday.

The storm briefly knocked our power out, hope it doesn't happen again.

I just saw a flash of lightning, looked at the radar to see if I was imagining it. There's lightning out there, surely too far away for me to have seen?
