last 3 days:
39.7C 39.5C 39.4C
So no official 40C yet this summer. Can we make the whole summer without one? It's looking very possible.

Following the warmest December on record, Pensacola breaks its record high January min temp by 3 F, with a low of 73 F (23 C) yesterday. Records since 1879.

So 2021 will almost certainly end up either breaking or just missing the all-time sunshine record by just a few hours one way or the other. Thankfully Environment Canada still tracks sunshine hours even though they don't actively publish them, so if we ended up setting a record I'm sure we'll hear about it. Recording something and not publishing it is the stupidest thing Iโve heard. Indeed. I have no idea why they do it that way. Whenever there's a record or some sort of highly remarkable situation we'll hear about it in the news with specific numbers and everything, but on a day-to-day basis they don't make any of that data available. Thankfully, we have the Saskatchewan Research Council which runs a WMO-standard weather station in town and actually publishes sunshine hours so I'm able to get that info. Unfortunately most locations in Canada don't have an equivalent of that.

Reports of some wintry precip in north LA this morning! Winter weather advisory has been issued for some parishes. Freeze warning down to S TX. My temp has dropped to 38F (it was 68F at midnight)! I wonder if I'll see any sleet.

This is the first time in recorded history that Paris-Montsouris records five 14ยฐC+ highs in winter (records beganin 1879). Absolutely vile stretch of weather this is. Houston recorded a high of 85 F/29 C yesterday and at midnight it was still 66 F/19. As of the 10:00AM update: McAllen got up to 92 F/33 C and as of midnight it was 70 F/21 C. When the cold front blasted through Dallas: Current conditions: Gotta love these monster cold fronts. <3

Had a quick burst of sleet earlier. Glad we at least got something. Looks like wintry precip has pushed out of the area now. Also the airport just hit freezing for the first time of the season finally! Wind chill is 19F!

We might get some snow mixing in with the rain tomorrow morning here in Chapel Hill, NC, but that's about all that's forecasted for us. Virginia is supposed to get more significant snow.

Hit exactly 60F (16C) today under mostly cloudy skies as fog and rain lifted, after picking up 0.80โ of rain last night. Sadly this is an end to a nice mild spell, itโs down to below average temperatures this week.

The NWS issued a winter weather advisory for the northern tier of counties in North Carolina. But I'm in the second tier. The GFS, NAM, and HRRR all show snow over me, but the air temp is supposed to be above freezing, so I don't expect any accumulation.

Heat ramping up in Gascoyne Junction, Western Australia. Not often you see consecutive 49c days in a forecast.

Thanks to the BOM BUMMERS in their illustrious campaign of killing weather stations, we'll never know what happens at that site.

I might be wrong, but I think Gascoyne Junction is/was a manual observer site, and there is no one or no one wanted to, to take over duties once the observer quit the job. Can't imagine a functioning AWS being shut down, especially in a part of the country where weather stations are sparse on the ground. The Gascoyne River Valley is subject to massive and often devastating floods right into the rich market gardens at Carnarvon, and you would think a functioning reliable Station would be necessity. After all they've installed AWS in bum-fuck places like Fowlers Gap, Smithville and Delta in NSW ( National Party heartland of course ) in recent years.

greysrigging I'll do it but I guess they'll want someone with a masters in atmospheric/climate physics with 10 years work experience, with a full medical and drug history to read a thermometer.

Relatively "dry" spell (for the season) in Jakarta (airport), 3-hour reading dews as low as 20.0C/68.0F (yesterday at 12UTC/7pm), and last night/this morning low dropped below 22C. Yesterday also recorded 34.5C high, so a 12.6C drop from yesterday to this morning... Latest reading (today 6UTC/1pm) is at 22.6C dew point, highest since yesterday morning
