Anyone been keeping an eye on the heat building up in Central and Northern Argentina ? OK it is GFS and 5-7 days out, even so it would likely be a record breaking event if it comes off. I think the South American ( continent ) record is 48.9c from more than 100 years ago.

Hope it's a fizzer. If those reach 49-50C, at my latitude or even higher, I'll personally kill myself.

Gotta love it when the coldest altitude air in the entire continent lies just over my head. GFS never fais to deliver.

Raining again this afternoon, second afternoon in a row, albeit no thunder unlike yesterday. Feels like a "switch" compared to the recent dry spell
Also 36mm of rain on Wednesday night in Jakarta north coast Tanjung Priok station
Bandung's morning low yesterday was 20.6C, but it reached 20.6C at 4pm reading with the rain, so lower temp likely in between the readings
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
2022 rainfall up to 7th January at 06:00 UTC (13:00 local time) :
Bandung airport: 10.0mm Jakarta Tanjung Priok: 36.5mm Jakarta airport (Soekarno-Hatta): 15.8mm Pekanbaru airport: 17.9mm

We hit -40 again!
Official low of -40.4C yesterday! It's been a very long time since we've hit -40 two winters in a row. Too bad our record low in December was -39.7C, would've been nice to have had it two months in a row as well.

Edit: 5" not 3"

Preliminary snow total of 8.4โ here, also didnโt get much liquid precipitation so horrible 20:1 ratios NWS forecast was shit, they had just 3-5โ here, now itโs time to commence the melting process!

Roebourne ( Pilbara in Western Australia ) is the one to watch later this week for a chance at the elusive 50c mark. If the sea breeze is held at bay post midday ish, there is a good chance of the forecast 49c being reached. My only experience of a +49c max was in Roebourne in Dec 2011.

A fairly hot start to the year, with several 35+ C days: Meanwhile, Christchurch had some alright days, but still managed a couple of sub-20 C highs - they had a high of 16.7 C on the 6th:

Had freezes 4 days this week.
Was cool yesterday with a high of 50F. Warmer this weekend with temps around 70F today. Thunderstorms likely with another front coming (marginal severe risk). Then cooling back down.

It's been kind of dry lately. I'm now in moderate drought though northeast LA is in extreme drought. Seems like it's been a while since that level of drought has been in LA.
