Light rain fell throughout much of the day yesterday into this morning, amounting to 0.23", and temps hovered in the mid-upper 30s. Today was partly cloudy, milder, and breezy with a high of 47. At least 40s everyday this week in the forecast, with a couple of 50s. Nice to see

The past couple of days have gotten into the 50s and 60s F (10s C), so the snow is almost all gone now, except for a few drifts and piles in parking lots. The upcoming week looks to have slightly warmer-than-normal temperatures with sunny weather each day. Pretty uneventful.

Will we get a redux of the February 2019 snowstorm? EC seems to think so. Would be pretty exciting to go from near 80F to snowfall next week! Stereotypical desert weather today here. Headed to a high of 75F after a low of 36F

( Source Anthony Cornelius - Meterologist at Weatherwatch ) Severe Tropical Cyclone Dovi has a very large eye this morning. Dovi is a long way south and is likely to hold category 3 status as it comes in line with Brisbane's latitude which shows that we definitely get significant tropical cyclones in the southern Coral Sea. However other than strong and gusty southerly winds along the coastline and some larger swells from later today onwards, we're unlikely to see significant impacts in Queensland / Southeast Queensland. Don't be fooled by the "low" track through northern New Zealand though. The system is likely to pack a very strong punch as it becomes an extra-tropical cyclone (and this brings another topic about whether strong systems that no longer strictly fit the definition of a tropical cyclone should still keep their name so people don't think they're "weaker!")

Severe Tropical Cyclone Dovi Threatening Norfolk Island ( source: Weatherzone ) Tropical Cyclone Dovi will lash Norfolk Island tonight after rapidly intensifying to the south of New Caledonia during the last 24 hours. The sequence of satellite images below shows Dovi moving towards the south between New Caledonia and Norfolk Island on Friday morning. Cyclone Dovi was only a category one system on Thursday morning, but after rapidly intensifying overnight, it became a category three severe tropical cyclone on Friday morning. At 8am AEDT on Friday, Severe Tropical Cyclone Dovi was located about 250 kilometres south of Noumea and 530 kilometres north northwest of Norfolk Island. The powerful cyclone has a large and ragged eye, which can be seen clearly in today’s imagery from the Himawari-8 satellite. Image: Severe Tropical Cyclone Dovi at 9:20am AEDT on Friday, February 11, 2022. Source: SLIDER by RAMMB/CIRA The eye of Tropical Cyclone Dovi was around 70-80km wide on Friday morning based on satellite imagery. This is unusually large for a tropical cyclone, with eyes typically measuring about 10-60 km in diameter. The eye of tropical Cyclone Tracy, which was a very small but powerful cyclone, only had a diameter of 12km. Dovi will continue moving south and should maintain its current strength as a category three system when it passes to the west of Norfolk Island tonight. According to the Bureau of Meteorology’s Tropical Cyclone Advice, Norfolk Island could see gale force winds with damaging to destructive wind gust on Friday night into Saturday morning. Damaging surf will also develop from today as the large cyclone moves closer to the island. After grazing past Norfolk Island tonight, Dobi will transition from a tropical cyclone to an extratropical low pressure system and head towards New Zealand. This track will not only slam New Zealand with heavy rain and dangerous winds, but also send a large and powerful swell towards Australia’s east coast during the next several days. Be sure to check the latest warnings on Norfolk Island, in New Zealand and along Australia’s east coast for the most up-to-date details in the next few days.

Some decent storm activity over continental Australia, especially in Western Australia, the base of the Top End and north western Queensland.

Coldest night since 5 February, although by our standards -3C is a laughable frost. And it doesn't stop the meteorological spring, since yesterday on 11 February was the 5th day of being above freezing. Mins in Europe, deep freeze in the Alps:
