They have similar temperatures as the highs go for the most part. Orange is far sunnier and its summer nights are a bit cool. Istanbul has a more Med rain pattern, though its summers are somewhat humid with warm nights. Orange isn't humid in the summer.

Can we abstain from voting ?...Jeez I've spent some cold nights in Orange, even in mid summer ! One of only a handfull or less of largish AU towns/cities to record winter snow every year. A real Aussie version of a 4 season climate....the altitude of 3,000' in the higher parts of the town ensures a pretty crisp winter by AU standards.

100% ORANGE. It's one of the best climates in Australia, if not the world, and my dream climate is heavily based on it. Istanbul isn't too bad either but it's spoiled by tiny diurnal ranges and a dryish spring-summer period.

Istanbul (not Constantinople)
Sorry Aussies, but lows are important for the feeling of summer as far as I'm concerned. Polar average lows in the mid 50s will not cut it.

Honestly a really tough one. Both have crap winters but Istanbul seems more consistently snowy rather than just constantly cold and wet. Summers are clearly better in Istanbul with much warmer lows and higher humidity. Orange is much sunnier overall, Istanbul slightly warmer.
It's a coin-toss TBH, but I'll give the edge to Istanbul. Seems like both are trying to be four-season climates, but Istanbul just does a better job of it with proper humid summers and bleak, somewhat snowy winters. Definitely one of the closest battles I've seen though.

Would you lean towards Istanbul here for its warm summer nights?

Instanbul winters a bit colder, so I'd probably tick Orange. still, its a close battle.

I would vote for Orange, but it's supposed to be chilly with snow in December and January, and hot and sunnier in July.

Tropical climates suck for the most part, except for places like Lanai City, Norfolk Island, and Bermuda to name a few.
