Do the dunderheads who came up with the bs "tropical night" definition actually know what "tropical" means? As in, a climate which averages 18c or higher in all 12 months of the year? 🤣
Not this argument again...
It is what it is and is in wide use troughout Northern and Central Europe.
Good. It's still stupid.

Winnipeg airport got 50mm rain in 30 mins from a thunderstorm last week. Which is a record (intensity records from 1952 onwards)

Canberra had its lowest temperature of the year, with a minimum of -6°C just before 7 am. The year’s previous coldest morning was -4.5°C on June 15, and for those who love records, the national capital’s coldest recorded temp was -10°C in July 1971. Australia’s coldest overnight temps were all in the mountains and tablelands in southern NSW near Canberra, with the mercury bottoming out at -8.1°C at Cooma Airport. But even low-lying NSW towns in the state’s north and west experienced an extreme chill overnight, with a low of –3.1°C (26.4 F) at Cobar, near Bourke (the coldest on record there was -6.7°C in July 1997). Victoria: Mt Hotham -6.4°C (20.4 F)
New South Wales: Cooma Airport -8.1°C (17.4 F)
ACT: Canberra Airport -6°C (21 F)
Queensland: Applethorpe -2.6°C (27.3 F)
South Australia: Renmark Airport -2.9°C (26.7 F)
Tasmania: Liawenee -2.5°C (27.5 F)
Western Australia: Collie East -2.5°C (27.5 F)
Northern Territory: Yulara 5.1°C (41.1 F)

It's the one year anniversary of the greatest PNW heatwave in recorded history.
On this day last year, Lytton, BC shattered the all-time Canadian record of 45.0c(113f) after hitting 46.6c(116f). The record would only stand for one day, as temps would climb even higher the next day, and the day after that.

28.8'C high today at the airport and a first 30'C at my PWS with 30.3'C. Weird how the airport had warmer highs for most of May, but this month my PWS has had significantly warmer highs almost every day.

Apparently Mariestad recorded a 22.6'C low om the night to the 26th, which would be very remarkable for a station in a small town on the mainland, especially in June.

As for Estonia the highest temperature was recorded in Viljandi - 33c; in Võru the high was 30.2, low 20.3c, thus a "tropical night". A total of 11 stations recorded minimum temperatures above 20c.

Here we go again... typical summer dry/warm stretches will be replaced by cold/wet winter-like polar stretches instead. Hoping things turn around in the second half of July... seen 2012 mentioned as a potential summer analogue and that year was fairly cool and wet until then before things dried up almost completely pretty much until mid October.

One year ago today, Lytton, BC hit 49.6c(121.3f).
Tragically, most of the town would completely burn down only a few hours later, as a fire engulfed the region.
