I get irked when these NW cloudbands happen to come and only cover Sydney, sparing the South Coast. Pfft!

Ok, the university station on Infoclitmat said 30.0C. Cannot look up official sources because they are only in Latvian, but congrats anyway!

Very nice and cool summer day today, 71 F (21.7 C) with a 49 F (9.4 C) dew point with a strong NW breeze and mostly cloudy conditions as of 2 PM. Supposed to get quite cool tonight with a low of 49 F (9.4 C) predicted. Hard to believe a week ago we were getting 100 F / 37.8 C temperatures.
Supposed to warm up quite a bit by mid-week (high of 89 F / 31.7 C on Wednesday and 86 F / 30 C on Thursday) with thunderstorms forecast both days.

Don’t know, don’t care what’s happening on in Fort Collins since I’m not there. Last I checked it was the typical 80s/low 90s and mostly sunny infinity loop that saps all my interest in weather.
If there’s a record cold snap or 100 f in the forecast let me know

Looks like we're gonna be impacted by another heavy rain event at the end of this week (first week of July): Let's hope it misses Sydney. This week, however, a stream of tropical moisture is going produce rain over a broad area of the NT and QLD, possibly delivering several months’ worth of dry-season rainfall in some areas.
A few showers will develop over the NT and far west QLD on Tuesday and Wednesday as a cloudband starts to build across northern Australia. Rain will become heavier and more widespread between Thursday and Saturday as the cloudband slowly drifts further east. The injection of tropical moisture provided by this large cloudband will also help produce rain over a broad area of eastern Australia from Friday into the weekend, possibly persisting into the start of next week as well. There are early signs that some of this rain could become heavy enough to causef flooding as a coastal trough deepens early next week.
This rain event could cause flooding in parts of the NT, QLD and eastern NSW, including areas that are normally dry at this time of year. Be sure to check the latest forecasts and warnings in your area.www.weatherzone.com.au/news/rain-on-the-way-for-northern-and-eastern-australia/656482

First tropical night in Riga this year, the low has been 21.0C last night.
Looking back, there were 0 tropical nights in 1960's and only 2 in 1970's. Those were unhappy years.
However, last year 2021 was exceptional with 19 tropical nights.

Rain On The Way For Northern And Eastern Australia. ( source: Weatherzone ) Unseasonably heavy rain will spread over parts of the NT and QLD later this week, with wet weather also set to return to Australia’s east coast. Northern Australia is in the middle of its dry season, a largely rainless six-month period that runs from May to October. The map below shows that most of northwest QLD and the northern half of the NT usually receive less than 5mm of rain during all of July. The two maps below show how much rain two different forecast models are predicting this week, from Monday to Sunday. This rain event could cause flooding in parts of the NT, QLD and eastern NSW, including areas that are normally dry at this time of year. Be sure to check the latest forecasts and warnings in your area.

Is the riga uni station actually a wmo certified station? I mean it's obviously not the only botev station in northern Europe, but it's literally a rooftop station, isn't it?

First 30'C of the year in Sweden Also very close to getting the first 20'C low last night, with a 19.7'C low on Hallands Väderö. Finland had quite a few 20'C lows that night. Last night we (just barely) got ours though with 20.0'C in Karlskrona. In other news it's been very humid in Umeå recently despite missing out on the full force of the heatwave. 17.2'C hourly DPs yesterday (17.7'C so far today) with a 26'C high at the airport, and a 20.6'C DP with a 27.3'C high at my PWS. My sensor is rated with a 0.3'C margin of error with its dew point readings but I can't see why the dew point would differ by 3'C compared with the airport other than sensor error. Noticably humid anyway though.

I don't think so. I think the first one was yesterday. Rantasalmi in Central Eastern Finland was the warmest with a 20.6C low.

What do you mean by WMO certified? The weather station is operated by Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre. I am pretty sure that it is recognised by WMO. By the way, yesterday, Riga airport has registered the same maximal temperature of 31C as Latvian University.

Do the dunderheads who came up with the bs "tropical night" definition actually know what "tropical" means? As in, a climate which averages 18c or higher in all 12 months of the year? 🤣

Not this argument again...
It is what it is and is in wide use troughout Northern and Central Europe.
