Both are subtropical small cities on the Aussie coast that are somewhat on the same latitude, but with differing climates; One is a semi-arid influenced Mediterranean climate and the other is a classic humid subtropical climate. Going with Geraldton, easily. A B+ climate versus a C+ one.

I like both those places equally.....two very different climates of course, but excellent examples of west coast and east coast AU subtropics. Geralton has the extreme heat days and the summer dryness of the WA Med climate, and of course a winter bias for rainfall. Mind you, an errant Tropical Cyclone can drop decent summer rain occaisionly. Coffs Harbour, home of 'The Big Banana'.....can't get much more subtropical than that ! That Coffs wikibox differs some to the BOM Climate Data. The Coffs MO closed in 2015, and stats are now taken from a site at the Airport. With less than 10 years of data, the Airport site is about 1c warmer than the long term data from the MO site in the town center. Current data from BOM Geraldton Airport BOM Coffs Harbour Meterological Office

Geraldton for me, better summer temps, less humid overall and obviously the Med precip pattern.

Geraldton.
Geraldton has the inferior precipitation total, but its average and record highs are much better (it actually satisfies the requirement of having three warm months) and is less humid in the summer to boot. Coffs Harbour's mean maximum for the year is pathetic.

Geraldton, for the glorious Mediterranean precipitation pattern.

Both are very nice, but I'll pick Coffs Harbour. Much wetter but still decently sunny and has fewer winter rain days.

Both are too warm but I'd go with Cock's Harbour. At least it gets storms to punctuate the summer stuffiness.

Coffs Harbour easily- slightly warmer, wetter and sunnier than my hometown (B). Geraldton isn't bad (B-), especially due to the excellent sunshine.
