The oceanic tundra where the average temperatures are always above freezing but below 10C have a peaty grassland vegetation rather than the Tundra. I went a few years ago to the Hornos Island, in Southern Chile, it has a tundra climate with no months averaging below 0C but the the vegetation is more similar to the Hebrides and the Faroe Islands than to actual Tundras like in North Canada. Interesting idea but adding the one hot climate makes it a lot easier to pick.
Väike-Maarja is the best and the worst is...I was going to say Upernavik right away, but now I see that Alfred Fraure Station only has 600 hours of sunshine and a similar record high. Wind data would be nice... depending on how windy it is at each one, I might pick Alfred Fraure as the worst. 5C and driving rain is no fun.

Maastricht is the clear winner here, since it's the only somewhat decent climate in this shitty selection. Isn't Summit Camp the highest station in Greenland?
Edit: Summit Camp doesn't have precipitation data. I guess that's why it wasn't included.

So you're using terms in a way not consistent with established climate classification schemes. Got it. Both Köppen and Trewartha failed to properly identify Oceanic Tundras, possibly due to their remote locations and rarity, that’s why both climatic classifications are defective. Never mind that northern Scotland looks the way it does because of a pattern of deforestation going back millennia. Seeing by how sparsely populated the Hebrides are, I don’t think deforestation is the reason why the region is treeless. My geography teacher said a few years ago that the cool summers and the high amount of sea salt in the air caused by the westerly winds, is what makes the environment of the Hebrides and the Faroe Islands very unfavourable to trees. |
