Here you go guys! Lindos in Rhodes is the warmest area of geographical Europe by far With an average annual temperature of almost 22.0ยฐC according to the official climate database of the National Observatory of Athens (https://www.meteo.gr/climate/), Lindos beats any area in geographical Europe! In fact it beats areas outside of Europe which are way south of Lindos. A few examples: It is is even warmer annually than the Canary islands, Cairo, Tel Aviv, Brasilia, areas in N and S Okinawa, Heyuan (located in the Tropic of Cancer) and areas of metropolitan Taipei! It even ties Daytona Beach in Florida! In August 2021 it broke the all time European record for the warmest month in European history! This is due to the constant hot foehn winds the leeward side of Rhodes experiences year round!

Good find! Granted it's a fairly short POR (less than 10 years), but I didn't think there's anywhere in Europe that's got an average low above 80ยฐF in summer. It's probably legit based on the webcam pics/webcam, it's not a rooftop station: penteli.meteo.gr/stations/lindos/Welcome to our glorious forum BTW, I hope you'll like this place (I was the one who invited you)!

Thank you so much! I appreciate the invitation It's 10 years actually (2010-2019), even though a shorter period still meets the minimum updated WMO guidelines for a time series . You can get the data directly from the Climate Normals of the National Observatory of Athens www.meteo.gr/climate/It's a Davis fan aspirated station that belongs to the Institute of Environmental Research and Sustainable Development of the National Observatory of Athens. I think a passive WMO station (non fan aspirated) in Lindos would actually record higher Ts to be honest!

Also below is the explanation by the National Observatory of Athens of why Lindos gets so hot
Basically, year round foehn winds due to its location. In fact during the summer these winds are 24/7! I am not kidding but the Etesian winds in the Aegean are brutal in intensity during the summer...

Impressively bad climate lol. Bone dry 95/82 is nightmarish. Itโs probably quite humid too Iโd imagine, at least sometimes.

Dubious . Very dubious brother. Sorry but I say only 50/50 chance this is accurate data Nah brother! The National Observatory of Athens has an excellent network of met stations. All Davis fan aspirated stations with impeccable maintenance. Below is the paper describing their network. Basically its Number 1 in Greece. Most weather enthusiasts in Greece almost ignore our national met service when it comes to data coming from NOA meteosearch.meteo.gr/Raw%20Materials/2017-Geoscience_Data_Journal-stations.pdf

Itโs probably quite humid too Iโd imagine, at least sometimes. Not at all! One of the least humid areas of the country. This is due to the constant foehn winds blowing during the summer. Yeah it is pretty hot but strangely enough it is bearable. I ve been there twice in the past. Ok you need an AC but you dont get that suffocating humidity feeling of everything sticking on your body.

Thank you! Come on we always had worthwhile climates in Europe Yep - southern Spain and Italy also have some very nice climates. I'd say this is my new favorite though I guess its a matter of taste! But if you want really hot summers (on average) then Greece is the go to place. There is no country in Europe that can come even close to South Greece's summer averages. Take a look at Athens. Summer averages in July/August are around 30C the past decade.

southathens welcome to the forum and this is a great find! I'd love to visit the Greek islands (and mainland) soon. I'm an avid lover of dry heat, though I like cool to mild, and very rainy, winters. I'm gonna make some weatherboxes from the stations in West Greece, those are some of the best climates in the world for me!
And for the people that are saying Lindos would feel humid in the summer, I think not. It's as hot as it is due to persistent dry, downsloping winds. Windward stations on Rhodes could potentially record some fairly high dewpoints, but not Lindos probably.
