As close as possible to the peaks of Indonesian mountains, as well as many other cities/towns in Indonesia. Also curious to see the "frost hollows" in Indonesia, specifically the far south

Ethereal Better wording would be the "cool spot" or "cold spot". What I really meant is to maximize the number of stations around that part (far south in Timor/Rote). Also Indonesia in general... It would be interesting to know which station(s) in that region of Indonesia regularly record the coldest mins especially during the dry season (winter). And of course among the low elevation stations...

Within the city of Vancouver. Preferably the east side. The airport (located on a island right next to the ocean) is a horrifically poor representation of the city and region, especially with regards to temps specifically in the warmer months. On a typical summer day it be 5-10c cooler at the airport than 99% of the city and region.

I wish that more mountain summits and base camps had weather stations- especially Mt Kilimanjaro, with its unique composition of flora and fauna ranging from tropical at its foothills to glacial at its summit.

It seems as though we could have recorded even higher temperatures yesterday, though the area with the forecast peak temperatures is very sparsely populated with weather stations. Maybe a grid with a station every 10km in rural areas, and then reopening all the London stations that the Met Office shut down.
That would put the Heathrow "bUt ItS aN aIrPorT" moaners to sleep.

Station coverage in the UK is awful in general, there are countless places that had stations but no longer do.

Don't forget the Met Office do have a lot of automated CDL stations & manual stations on top of the WMO numbered SYNOP stations which appear on sites like Meteociel. The CDL stations have filled in some of the gaps left by the closure of other stations, though they don't all record everything that the standard stations do, some just temperature. The Environment Agency operate a lot of extra rainfall gauges too, usually at waterworks/pumping stations which the Met Office use in their data, it would be good if they could set up more CDL stations at these sites.

It'd be interesting to see a proper UHI station in Copenhagen, similar to the ones in Stockholm and Oslo. Nvm, the main Copenhagen station actually is pretty comparable to the Stockholm UHI station.

It's so shit not having one anywhere near York anymore. Linton on Ouse was about 10 miles out of York, but at least it was relatively close. Even Topcliffe reached 39.6C this week, so I think Linton would almost certainly have been 40C+ of it was still there. There is one just outside York that some guy runs that's apparently used by the met office, and he reached 40C this week. I know we're not the only city without one, but it's still annoying as fuck.

I guess your nearest Met Office station is now Bramham which got to 39.8C.

The only one representative of the Vale of York is Doncaster Sheffield airport.

In my area, I'd like to see more stations in the foresty areas (e.g. the Croatan Nat'l Forest) as well as in riverfront areas.
Internationally, I wish there more stations in the Sahara desert in general, with modern, quality instruments unlike what was measured by the fuckan incompetent colonists that maded the unrealistic record highs in the colonial era there. That's only scratching the surface.

I wish Fort Collins had a sunshine recorder or there was a station that accurately recorded solar radiation

My university area, and in general more stations in large cities in Indonesia. Also mountain passes and highlands like Bromo, and close as possible to the summit of Cartensz Pyramid

I've said this on City Data in a thread like this; Somewhere in the valleys of the Blue Mountains, such as this spot: I wonder how hot this valley will be in the summer as it's protected on all ends by the surrounding mountains, which average at around 900m-1000m.
