If the forecast temps for the last 3 days of the month come off, it will make August 2023 the second hottest ( for max temps ) since records began at the Airport in 1941. And only 3 times has the August mean max temp exceeded 33c. 2021 - 33.4c 2023 - 33.3c ( projected ) 2017 - 33.1c Here are the 1941-1970 and 1991-2020 figures.... as you can see, the Augusts have warmed substantially re max temps ( 0.9c )

Still very dry season-ish.... low humidity and DP's and an overnight min sub 20c ( droppwd to 19.2c and rose to a max of 33.2c ) Next 7 days.... much the same...

Only 1 day above average the first 5 days of Sept. And the mins well below... the dry season is hanging in there.... Oh, and here is why we don't swim much on remote beaches....

The seabreezes have supressed the max temps around coastal Darwin; inland regions in the mid 30's today.

The 'dry seaaon' hanging on out in Kakadu National Park... the first week of Sept has been below the average means both max and mins... Warming up some for the second week of Sept.

Some prolonged heat in the Darwin forecast... not record breaking but still well above the Sept mean of 32.7c

We didn't quite make the forecast top of 36c today.... only 35.8c at 2.30pm. A few showers out along the Arnhemland coast

Another hot day, but the sea breeze is in and dropped the max by 5c in half an hour....but raised the dp's by 8c !

Been a tough few days for the equatorial plants in the garden....yes, yes... I know I shouldn't grow 'em. Dp's as low as 6.5c and hot dessicating easterlies atm. No sea breeze yet..... Ahh, the sea breeze has just pushed in, so a change in wind direction, the max temp dropping and humidity and DP's rising...

The first +40c max temps of the season. In fact the first Australia wide since 27th March when Birdsville recorded 41.6c. Mandora in WA topped 41,3c today. Borroloola - 40.7c Fitzroy Crossing - 40.5c Mac River Mine - 40.4c Ngukurr - 40.2c Bradshaw ( Angaliari ) - 40.0c Mt Bundy Defence - 40.0c Jabiru - 40.0c
