We've only had 5mm of rain so far this month at Essendon Ap, up to the 23rd of July. The record low rainfall for July here is 12.8mm, so we've got a good shot at breaking it. That’s fucking lame. Melbourne winters are actually a lot drier than I thought.

Better than most of the city, but still marginally lower than our July record of 25.5mm.

Spain has better infrastructure, but at higher prices. Postives for Albania are prices and that Albanians are glad to have tourists and are willing to speak English. In Spain you need Spanish and basta. In Albania, they really speak English pretty well, at least in Albanian riviera. Low 24.2C in Durrës. While in Riga such highs cannot be found now.

The 18.8c max yesterday was the lowest max in the 2nd half of July since 2015, and the lowest for the date since 1999.
Luckily it looks like temps will recover towards average at the end of the month.

Yeah Riga's forecast looks abysmal, even by Baltic standards. Significantly cooler than here. Glad you're getting some proper Balkan heat at least.

Marathon followed up that 87F low with a 99F/37C high, and the dew point at that time was a sticky 81F/27C. It has seen steady mid-80s low temps this past week. www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=KMTH&hours=168Still not as extreme as the middle east, where at least two sites have reached 32C/90F dew points recently. Asaluyeh Persian Gulf Airport in Iran reached 41/32 (106/90F) today and two days ago. www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=OIBP&hours=168Sirri Island recorded 38/32C (100/90F) temp and dew point on the 22nd. Dew point has been 30C or above there for a few days. www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=OBIS&hours=72Not far behind are large cities like Abu Dhabi which reported 35/31 (95/88) on the 21st (and 39/29C 104/84F today) or Doha which is currently reporting 35/31 also.

High 40.0C in Durrës on Sunday. Sunny all day, very calm sea. Good summer weather. Interestingly, there are many pines growing here in the coast. No forest fires.
24C at midnight. The night is comfortable. Big temperature drop is coming on Thursday with highs only in high 20's.

One of the wettest Julys on record - already.
At 125mm+ (or 220% of the usual, 57mm for an entire month), it is unsurprising that July 2023 is already in the top 5 wettest Julys on record in Sheffield. It still falls just short of the shit Julys of 1930 and 1958 - but if we get any further substantial rain this month (and there's plenty of time), then it will easily slide into first place.
