DID YOU KNOW?Today's date, 13th June, is the only date in the British meteorological summer to never have recorded 30°C... until today, in 2023.
Porthmadog, Wales has just beaten 30°C on this date, as well as a few other locations (below), meaning now, every date of meteorological summer has now surpassed 30°C in the UK.

Finally some interesting weather on the way. They said PEIGEI won't be getting any storms. Current lightning map shows I am right in the path of the biggest swarm of lightning in Canada and northern US as well Storms are moving directly north.

First Amazonian cold snap in the year, it usually affects highs more than lows. Data from the last 24 hs:
Leticia, Colombia (4°S, 80 m): 16.1C/ 24.4CLabrea, Brazil (7°S, 60 m): 14.8C/ 16.7CRio Branco, Brazil (10°S, 220 m): 11.1C/ 14.6CSan Javier, Bolivia (16°S, 500 m): 7.4C/ 11.4C (Jun 13 was 5.4C/10.3C) Dry and sunny in most Argentina, so lows were more relevant than highs.
Villa Mercedes AgroZar (34°S, 520 m): -11.1CVilla Reynolds Air Base (34°S, 480 m): -8.8CCórdoba Airport (31°S, 480 m): -6.7CEl Palomar Air Base (BA): -4.8CEzeiza Airport (BA): -1.2CBA Central Observatory: 2.0C The Andean Plateau left some interesting figures yesterday:

Very impressive diurnal ranges for some stations in inland southern Sweden this June. This place is what i call "Sweden's little Denver", but I think the dry ground and continual high pressure have made the diurnals even more pronounced than usual.

QLD town hits -4C, state's lowest June temperature in four years ( source: Weatherzone ) Parts of eastern Australia just shivered through their coldest June morning in years as sub-freezing temperatures caused widespread frost across NSW and Qld. A wintry combination of clear skies, light winds and a lingering cold air mass caused temperatures to plummet across eastern Australia on Thursday night into Friday morning. In Qld, there were 13 official weather stations that dropped below 0ºC, including Roma (-1ºC), Amberley (-1.5ºC), Warwick (-3.4ºC) and Wellcamp Airport (-3.6ºC). These were the coldest June mornings in five and nine years for Warwick and Amberley, respectively. The coldest place in Qld on Friday morning was Oakey, where the temperature reached -4.0ºC shortly before 7:00 am. This was the state’s lowest June temperature since 2019. Across the border in NSW and the ACT, a whopping 34 weather stations reached 0ºC or lower in the early hours of Friday, including -1.7ºC at Dubbo, -2.7ºC at Mudgee and -6.4ºC in Armidale. The lowest temperature in the state on Friday morning was -7.7ºC at Glen Innes, which is the 2nd lowest temperature observed anywhere in Australia so far this winter. Looking ahead, more widespread frost will form over eastern and central Australia on Saturday morning under the influence of a slow-moving high pressure system.

Good weather for the UHI. "Tropical" night in the city center vs single digits °C out in the boondocks.

Fark, so close but still so far. 29.7C was the high in Turku today. Another shot at 30C tomorrow, but cloud cover might ruin that. We'll see.

Meanwhile here the chance of not seeing 90°F at all this month (which would have NO precedent whatsoever, I mean this one literally, latest first 90°F is June 24th, 1966) is very real, given the ass shit downgrades which have been usual for the past month for Sunday (+ models and NWS typically overestimating temps by 1-2°F due to exaggerated mixing/warming/drying), and also a cutoff low bringing colder temps for most of next week.
Not to mention that this June is a nightmare overall, catastrophically below average at -3.2°F MTD and a hyperdry 1.16" precip MTD, which is less than half the normal precip and only one T-storm day that materialized.

32.9°C/93°F yesterday in Milly-la-forêt, highest reading of the year so far in Île-de-France. Some thunder during the night as well, didn't wake me up due to the fan. Temperature anomoly for June since 1873 @ Montsouris park... no comment. Paris went from horses ass to acceptable summers within a few décades.

Meanwhile, here in Tarragona we're still waiting for our first 30C... So far, the highest temperature was 29.7C in the official station on June 15, and 28.5C in the Downtown station (closer to the coast). Lows are usually rather high (18-20C range) and temps overall are very steady, monthly averages so far are 22.3C (official) and 22.4C (downtown).
