Dry heat versus humid heat is a common theme of discussion on this forum. In this true Firebird versus Tommy climate battle (we all know where they stand), there is no compromise. It is a choice between a land of perpetual droughts and perpetual floods. Hellishly hot and dry, or hellishly hot and rainy.
Kuwait City, Kuwait
Quibdó, Colombia

It's gonna be Kuwait for this one, for being more seasonal. Quibdo has comfortable temps, but is way too cloudy.

Kuwait. It has a comfortable season temp wise, every month in Quibdo is sticky and boiling hot. Not to mention 320” is a ludicrously colossal amount of rain. It’s either oppressive as fuck or pouring in Quibdo. No thanks.

Kuwait, because half the year there is comfortable. That's infinitely more time than in Quibdó, as warm rain is very uncomfortable.

Hard to choose.... would like to exerience both from a purely weather nerd perspective...the relentless heat of a Kuwaiti summer V the relentless rain and cloud of Quibdó....I think one would tire fairly quickly of both. Toss a coin...and Quibdó gets the tick.

Quibdo, completely inoffensive climate as opposed to literal hell that is Kuwait Completely inoffensive until you get bitten by a 3 foot wide spider and gang raped by a group of gorillas. That is, if you don’t die of Malaria first.

Kuwait City is better in every way except summer temperatures. For start, it has 5 comfortable months as opposed to Quibdo’s 0. There’s no chance of getting bitten by a spider there because it’s all open desert and you can easily spot a spider approaching, while in Quibdo, a 3 foot wide venomous spider might fell from a tree right on your head, you know what happens next? You die a from the venom after agonizing for hours and hours. You know what else lives in jungles? Gorillas. They are like humans but twice as big, they can rip your head off your neck after molesting you. An average gorilla weights 160kg and they are pure muscle, not even a strongman has a chance of defeating a gorilla in a fight, unless he has a ranged weapon.
Do you know what else lives in jungles? Panthers, they are huge and capable of killing gorillas, so imagine how easily they can kill a human. Do you know what else can kill you? The fucking water. A single sip from a river and you’ll get thousands of different viruses, parasites and bacteria. You’ll die a very painful death, and that’s not even the worst because the fucking ground can kill you too. If small wound in your toe touches the ground you’ll get Cholera, Tetanus, Malaria, Ebola and countless diseases, which will obviously kill you.
Even the fucking people can kill you there. Jungles are the only places on Earth where cannibalism still exist because agriculture is not possible in those places so they either eat grass and leaves (low nutritional value), hunt an animal or eat an enemy tribe. Imagine a first worlder like you ending up in the jungle and getting caught by a cannibal tribe?
Living in Quibdo? No thanks, I’d rather live in the South Pole, the Sahara Desert or even Mars rather than Quibdo. Even ice age Europe used to be a better place to live than Quibdo, even climatically, geographically, culturally and socially. At least cro magnons weren’t cannibals and at least I wouldn’t die from a spider bite in ice age Europe.
Real life is not a Tarzan movie. If you end up lost in the jungle you’ll be dead in less than a month. Even in there city of Quibdo you would still die because a sadistic cartel member will shove a snake down your throat and boil you alive. If the cartel doesn’t get you, then you’ll likely die of hunger or Malaria.
And for the last time, humans didn’t originate in jungles, they originated in the Ethiopian Savanna. In fact, humans started settling in the Sahara desert before living in the Congo Rainforest. Says a lot about how even the Sahara Desert is more hospitable for human inhabitation than a jungle. Cro magnons also lived longer than Jungle Africans despite living in a tundra.

Kuwait for having a comfortable season and for being somewhat livable. Quibdó is a jungle climate. I can only live there if I'm half naked jumping around in the jungle. It's not a city where you can be comfortable in clothing, walking around in the oppressive heat.

It's not a city where you can be comfortable in clothing, walking around in the oppressive heat. Walking in 48°C - 50°C isn't comfortable either. In the occasional day where it drops to 38-40°C, the humidity will be higher than anything possible in a rainforest. The highest dew points in the world are not found in rainforests, they are found in coastal deserts near inland seas like Persian Gulf and Red Sea.

I still would give the edge to Kuwait for its pleasant winters (hence "comfortable season"). There's just something suffocating about Quibdo's climate and the fact it's year round just makes me uneasy. I know high dewpoints are found in the Gulf but I thought they're more pronounced in UAE or southwestern Iran. Is Kuwait also extremely humid like Dubai? I did not know tbh.

The whole Gulf region gets a mix of humid and dry heat. In Kuwait, dry heat is more common but in late summer it's all humid heat. In the Southern Gulf region, humid heat predominates and dry heat is restricted to early summer.

Kuwait City is still hotter overall if you average the annual average high and low temperatures. Really makes you wonder how people lived on the Persian Gulf coast before the 20th century.

Quibdó
While Quibdó is far from decent, the air quality must be very poor in Kuwait.
