Eureka and Yreka are two cities in far northern California with similar names and considerably different climates. (information paraphrased from Wikipedia) Eureka, California
Eureka was founded by Humboldt Bay on May 13, 1850, just a year after Humboldt Bay's location was even discovered. It served as a port city to supply miners in the Gold Rush in the far northern part of California. Its name, "Eureka", means "I've found it!" in Greek, reflecting hopes of striking it rich with gold. Eureka has a very cool and mild climate year-round. It's fairly wet and tends to have small diurnals, especially in summer. Yreka, CaliforniaYreka, north of Mount Shasta, was first settled in April 1851 when gold was found in the area. Interesting, its name isn't related to Eureka, but comes from wรกik'a, the name of Mount Shasta in the Shasta language. Its name is pronounced like "Why-ree-ka" Yreka has a more seasonal climate, with cold winters and hot summers. It's fairly dry and tends to have large diurnals, especially in summer.

Eureka for being wetter and for the much longer growing season.

Should be a 3rd option... Abstain ( from voting...lol ) But if I must vote its Yreka for some semblance of warmth.

Eureka for not having winter highs of 7C. But still, both are dreadful

Well I hate sweating so Eureka, but I can just go inland a bit if I want some warmer weather.

Yreka is superior in all areas other than rainfall.

Yreka easily. It's a bit dry, especially in summer, but its seasonal range is excellent. Eureka's temperatures are firmly in the boring zone year round.

Yreka for having a wider temp range.
Not that it's a good climate though. Also, that area is infested with ticks.

Yreka I guess. It's still tolerable in winter, and the summer is far better.

I was looking at a book of old California promotional postcards, and amongst pictures of picturesque orange groves I saw a postcard boasting of Yrekaโs ability to grow cold-hardy celery. Lmao
Still, Iโm voting for Yreka for having more warm weather

Yreka. Cold nights year-round but decent highs for half the year. Plus I'd rather have colder winters with snow than chilly rainy ones.
