February has been a pretty decent wet season month across the Darwin and Top End districts... slightly above average rainfall, and slightly above average mean min and max temps as well. A decent monsoonal burst mid month delivered flooding rains ... early Feb and late Feb was chacteristically dry with 'monsoonal break' conditions of isolated showers and storms. Further south of the Top End had flooding rains caused by the passage of TC Lincoln ... several sites over on the East Coast recorded +700mm totals for the month ! The south of the Territory was simply hot and dry ... well above max and min temps in the Alice with a couple of extreme max tamps of +46c over near the WA border districts. Rainfall - 446.6mm falling on 15 days ( long term mean 370.6mm) Highest daily fall - 194.6mm on the 12th Max temps - 32.4c av ( long term mean 31.5c ) Highest max - 35.0c on the 25th. Lowest max - 28.1c on the 12th Min temps - 26.3c av ( long term mean 24.8c ) Highest min - 28.9c on the 27th. Lowest min - 23.3c on the 24th. Rainfall - 15.8mm falling on 2 days ( long term mean 41.5mm) Highest daily fall - 8.5mm on the 13th Max temps - 38.4c av ( long term mean 35.2c) Highest max 43.4c on the 5th. Lowest max 34.2c on the 2nd. Min temps - 22.9c av ( long term mean 20.7c ) Highest min 28.6c on the 5th. Lowest min 17.4c on the 1st.

It'll end up as the warmest February on record, beating the mean temp of February 1990 by over 0.5c. It's also been an extremely wet and cloudy month.

Paris and Seoul both failed to beat their warmest records by 0.2~0.3°C. Also Paris had one of the cloudiest February, received only 4 hours 20 minutes (Worse at Orly with 2 hours 56 minutes) in the early 10 days. I'd say it was a terrible month overall despite super mild temperatures. February 2024 Summary SE Sheffield
Yet another absurdly mild February. It was 3°C milder than average, and it was the 5th substantially above average February in the past 7 years. It was the third February in that time to have an average maximum temperature over 10°C. It had just a ridiculous single day with snow. There were only three air frosts. Unlike last year's February owever it was quite rainy. It saw the third high February temperature recorded at 17°C. It was more of a spring month than a winter month as could be seen with flowers blooming and leaves already coming out on trees. An absurdly mild month.

Frostless February 2024 SummaryA generally unremarkable, forgettable, unmemorable, slightly above average month (which, admittedly, I didn't expect), EXCEPT, the one noteworthy thing is that there hasn't been a single frost here this entire month. Yep, this Feb was even more lacking in the cold snap department than last year's, as if that were even possible. Weirdly stable as well, on the other hand, this February goes against the trend of seeing 80+°F in recent years, a first to NOT see one since 2016. Ulladulla 2024 February Summary:Similar to January: slightly warm, and unfortunately dry + cloudy. Started off warm and sunny, until an East Coast low resulted in the warmest +coolest nights and coolest day of the month; with like half the monthly precipitation in one day. After a streak of mildly warm, partly sunny days comes a few cloudy days, before having one day with a max above 30ºC. The end of the month gradually became warmer and cloudier thanks to northeasterly winds. A pretty dull month, both figuratively and literally. *Sunshine data unavailable from the 28th to 29th. Overall Stats: Mean Max: 24.4ºC (+0.2ºC) Mean Min: 18.5ºC (+0.9ºC, Tied 4th warmest) Rainfall: 77.8 mm (-38.8 mm, Tied 8th driest) Rain days (≥ 1.0 mm): 12 (+2.0 days) Mean humidity (averaging 9 am and 3 pm): 80.5% (+4%) Mean dew point (calculated from humidity): 18.0ºC (+1.0ºC) Sunshine (with a calculator): 157.9 hours (-20.3 hours, 7th dullest) Percent Sun: 42.5% (-5.4%, 7th dullest) Wind speed (averaging 9 am and 3 pm): 12 km/h (-4.5 km/h) Specific Stats: Highest Max Temp: 32.9ºC on the 23rd (SSE to N wind) Lowest Max Temp: 20.2ºC on the 6th (WSW to SSW wind) Highest Min Temp: 22.4ºC on the 5th (WNW to SSE wind) Lowest Min Temp: 14.6ºC on the 19th (SW to SSW wind)

Above average temperatures, record sun hours (2000-2023) and very dry overall. Looks like El Nino finally decided to pull through after 5 months. Actually a nice change of pace when writing this summary as I've been used to the old mantra of wet, below average temperatures and cloudy for a few years.

February was completely absurd. I don't see how there's any other way to put it. 7 days above 10C on a month with 0C average high. First 15 days all above freezing. We thought winter would return with a vengeance after the late January thaw but it never did. If someone shared this chart with no context one would have guessed it was March instead of February.

That is insanely cloudy. Literally Irish levels of summer sunshine. Is the mould having fun? Not really- in my parent's house, there is mold growth in the dining hall, but that's about it. However, spiders (like daddy long-legs) are much more common. Hopefully no red-backs coming.
