Average February conditions (1991-2020) Average high: 25.9°C | Daily mean: 20.3°C | Average low: 14.7°C Average precipitation: 38.2mm | Average precipitation days (>0.2mm): 7.0 | Average relative humidity: 50%
A warmer and much drier than average February. Aside from one single storm, it was practically rainless. We did see a return to our typical bipolar summer conditions, with highs in the high 30s being immediately proceeded by highs in the low 20s on several occasions. We almost had out first 40+ degree day since Feb last year, but we didn't quite get there. Overall this February was quite decent in terms of temperatures and sunshine, but it could've definitely done with more rain and thunderstorms.

February was a pleasant month in Auckland. Unusual in that it was cooler than January. There was a strong westerly weather pattern this month, and fairly big difference in temperature anomalies across the relatively small Auckland region. The south-west of the region was 1c below averge, and the far north-east & gulf islands were over 2.0c above average. My other locations for the month: I always forget just how crappy the coastal climates of the south like Oamaru are until I get there and have to wear a jacket during the day in february. Although now that I think about it, i've had to do the same thing in Melbourne before lol

February 2024 SummaryAvg max: 27.7c (+0.7c)* Avg mean: 20.8c (+0.2c)* Avg min: 13.8c (-0.3c)* *Estimated since the 12th and 29th had missing data High max: 36.9c (4th) High min: 22.8c (22nd) Low max: 20.0c (5th) Low min: 6.7c (15th) Precipitation: 18.4mm (32.7% of mean) Days with precipitation (>=0.2mm): 7 Days with precipitation (>=1mm): 5 Sunshine: 264.5 hours (highest!) Unlike the previous few months, this month was much drier and sunnier. Even though it felt quite warm with several days in the mid to high thirties, it was surprisingly only slightly warmer than normal. This was due to the lack of extreme heat earlier on in summer causing this month to feel comparatively hot, as well as the lows being on the cooler side. Rainfall was minimal, though we scored a few storms in the eastern suburbs. In fact, the storm on the 13th caused substantial wind damage and knocked out power to half a million people. Overall, a decent month temperature and sunshine wise, but I would have liked more rain. Summer turned out to be backloaded this year.

tommyFL I will get around to posting my data, so don't do it this time Meh, I gave you plenty of time last month and it was quite clear you weren't going to do it. I think I'll do whatever I want since it's on my server.

Weatherzone has a FB page now and they post up their capital city summaries as well as the seasonal ( as in Summer AU wide summaries ) The 3rd warmest Summer AU wide since 1910.... Well... hasn't it brought out the Karens and the Cookers from the woodwork, especially in Victoria ! As in, "B/S, cool and wet here in VIC... " "Those BoM bastards fudging/modifying the data to suit their global warming agenda...." etc etc. Well, see Karen ( and you Cooker numpties ), the State of Victoria is actually only 3% of the Australian landmass and there are 112 ACCORN Sites AU wide where the data and stats are taken from, so your insignificant part of the Continent has SFA bearing on means and averages for the season nationwide.... I have a bit of fun engaging with the dumb pricks on these social media pages, but it does get tiring after a while.... I mean, I'm not naturally a hard confrontational prick like AA is, but hell yeah, I'm learning to be..... lol.

Other summariesSydney Brisbane Perth Adelaide Damn ... so many blowtorch Feb summaries posted by people Sydney is that generally pretty sister who looked ugly and embarrassing in that one photo. Sydney this summer has been shameful with its feeble sunshine hours! Fuck, even Brisbane with all that rain managed to hit 200+ hrs of sunshine. But then I realised that Sydney is generally mostly cloudy in the summer (with some sunny breaks). It is like Melbourne winter when it comes to cloud cover. So y'all who get off it for its "stormzz" and shit, you better be prepared for cloudy British-level of sunshine in the summer. 🤣

Like the UK and Ireland in summer though the UK and Ireland does recieve more daylight hours so percentage wise it's probably more similar to the likes of Southern England. I have noticed the east coast of Australia is one of the few places where winters are sunnier than summer. South Africa is believe is the same.

3.9F warmer than normal and 1.72" wetter than normal. Much of the rainfall fell the 1st two weekends of the month. The 2nd half was nearly completely dry. Days were mild to warm for the most part and only two freezes. Spring-like and windy the last part of the month. Avoided the summer-like temps that Texas got. Data for my PWS:

True, I wish sunshine recorders were used in more places in Australia. However, I utilised this calculator made by tommyFL in 2021. It is an Excel file, where you can translate solar radiation values into sunshine hours. Not entirely accurate (underestimates the sunshine here by ~ 5%, but close enough).

A bad month but better than January overall mostly because of the 2-day blizzard on Feb 4th/5th. Much warmer compared to normal though.

This is a significant anomoly, normally in summer Sydney is nowhere near "British" levels of summer sunshine.

Yeah I guess I exaggerated because I was pissed at this February's embarrassing sunshine hours. Lol. Feb sunshine hours are usually in the 190s-early 200s at lowest. The heat and pervasive humidity does compensate the cloudiness.
