One of the more unusual temperature patterns here due to a cold front after a few warm sunny days: A high of 16c from 4pm yesterday to 4am today, followed by a low in the mid-afternoon. 48f/9c has to be close to a record for 3pm in April. The record low maximum at the airport (where this data is) was 52f/11c, and at Cal Poly was 49f/9c. Also a 20f/11c temperature change in daily highs, from 81f/27c to 61f/16c. Such a large change was last seen on September 2/3 2022, where the daily high jumped from 85f/29c to 105f/41c.

81 (27 c) today, warmest since October. Last few days have been quite warm but a cold snap arrives this week, could snow on Thursday. Hope it doesn’t ruin the nice spring vegetation.
Willows are getting leaves, some ornamental trees too. Lots of blooming trees in the urban area as well. Of course it’s still bare as winter in naturally vegetated areas.

Massive trough on the Persian Gulf, it surely left a lot of rainfall records. Dubai got 119 mm! Ai Ruwais (Qatar): 106 mm
Sharjah: 80 mm
Al Ain: 72 mm
Abu Dhabi: 62 mm Manama: 42 mm
What can go wrong?

Actual high ended up being 75°F (79°F at New Bern AP) on this supposedly 85°F day, all because of a sneaky gay сunt backdoor cold front with easterly flow behind it. How enthralling. Meanwhile Faggotville and Wilmington had daily highs of 88°F and 86°F respectively and performed to forecast 🖕🖕🖕 Although, yesterday was quite nice, with a daily high/low at my PWS of 87.7/59.5°F - which is warmest daily high since September 12th, the next few days tomorrow thru Saturday should be a good bit warmer than normal.

Flowering trees in town in full bloom now here, nearly 3 weeks ahead of last year and 2 weeks ahead of 2021 and 2022. Entering the prettiest time of year here.
Still bare trees in the natural areas and out to the east but grass is greening up there so doesn’t look like winter anymore.
April has been very dry with just 0.12” (3 mm) falling so far.
Very mild as well, the coldest high of 55 (13 c) is the T-3rd mildest and the coldest low of 27 is the T-5th mildest. Also only a single sub-freezing low so far.

Also had 1.7” (4 cm) of snow overnight, some of which is still on the ground.

On 14-16th April, the Persian gulf recorded historical rains, with up to 259.5 mm (10.22 in) in UAE and 302 mm (11.89 in) in Oman. It caused 24 deaths in total mostly in Oman.
Most of the deaths occurred on 14th of April when flash floods swept students going to school.

They're the ones creating the rain with their cloud seeding right?

Indeed, this whole disaster was created by cloud seeding because the UAE gov't went out of the way to fuck the locals over.

But but but I thought Colorado had a boring climate? Idiotic comment. I just said this was the biggest day-day swing in over a year, showing this is rare. The last time consecutive days had 70s and snow was November 2022. And I never said Colorado doesn’t get interesting weather, just that it’s rare and most days are boring. One interesting event doesn’t change that

Most of the deaths occurred on 14th of April when flash floods swept students going to school. So basically the UAE government killed those 24 people? They're the ones creating the rain with their cloud seeding right? Many people say that it's because of cloud seeding that's bs. Cloud seeding affects a small area and can't be applied to the entire Persian Gulf. Such an extreme event was predicted by different weather models long before it started. The extreme event occurred because a deep trough passed through the region in an unusually late period. The pressure dropped to below 1000 hpa. Also just before the trough reached the region there was a surge of humid air from the Arabian Sea that helped fuel the storms. Such deep troughs occur in late autumn/early winter and they cause heavy rain but not to the extremes of this event. This trough occurred in mid-April with high air and sea temperatures, which contributed to the extreme precipitation. When the storms moved to the Gulf of Oman they developed a small eye and started rotation. If the sea temps were 2°C higher and the wind shear was low, it would have developed into a full-fledged cyclone. Cloud seeding can't create pressure below 1000 hpa and can never create cyclones.
