Another cold day today, high of 36 (2 c). Sleet in the late morning followed by on and off snow showers. Nothing stuck even though they were decently intense.
Spring vegetation is now spreading out from the built up area with willows getting leaves out in rural areas. In town, trees like elms and cottonwoods are getting small leaves. The cold snap didnβt seem to halt the progress at all, it never dropped below freezing.

Weather is cold. Currently the temperature is 2.4c, cloudy, rh 59% at 12:00. Currently in my area: Birches have small leaves for a long time since the heat wave, but they do not develop further. It snowed in the northeastern part of the country and it also snowed in the highlands of the southeast. A station in the north-east experienced an ice day yesterday with a maximum of -0.9c.

High so far today has been 0.9C, which is exactly 11.0C below average for this date (2003-2023). Some snow on the ground from yesterday as well.
This is getting ridiculous.

Last night, temps rose from 14c to 22c from 11pm-1am and then started falling back down to more typical overnight temps from 4-6am. Looks like foehn wind according to Ventusky though it doesn't show such warm temps. At first I was suspicious it might be an error but then Cal Poly's unofficial weather station also shows that. Yesterday's high was actually in the late night.

insert code here 1.2c, cloudy, rain at 11 am...That is far from perfect but at least not as bad as northern parts of the country which got 12 cm of snow during the night.

Check out those extraordinarily cold temps this morning (and extraordinarily cold highs yesterday). What a difference a couple of days makes following a severe polar assault. A picture is worth a thousand words. You simply can't make this SHIT up.

Snow storm dumped 12-20 cm of wet snow between Turku and Helsinki this morning. Total chaos ensued. Long distance trains are hours late, and at around 11 the buses stopped running in Turku, and resumed normal operations only at around 18. Helsinki trams were cancelled around 10-16. The Helsinki-Turku motorway had complete chaos as well. Morning rush moved forward at 40 km/h at best. Helsinki Airport cancelled most of its flights until evening due to snow and ice.
Turku recorded 17 cm of snow, and that's the biggest snowfall in late April in 60 years.
Dozens of traffic accidents, and sadly a 10-year old girl died when a snow-clearing truck collided with her.

Had a nice thunderstorm today with some nice booming thunder and lightning. Only rained briefly but it was pretty heavy when it did rain. Excellent weather, have been waiting a long time for days like this.

Another Major Rain And Flood Event for The NSW Coast { Source: Your Weather Channel - JWC ) Good afternoon everyone Models starting to look legit and starting to look similar for another major rain and flood event for NSW especially coast and adjacent ranges and Sydney could be in the firming line thanks to a quasi stationary east coast low for the next week or so We will continue to keep an eye on this as it sorts itself out but here is the Euro model rain estimates and American model rainfall estimates Be aware & prepared: Upcoming upper low & ECL for subtropical eastern Australia late this week. Cold fronts, lows, strong upper cold pools & East Coast Lows followed by strong high pressure systems & cold surface temperatures are common for this time of year in subtropical eastern Australia. They are important in the cooling down processes as we head into winter. Southeastern NSW tend to get the most rainfall from ECL's but not always. In their wake they generate dry cold severe SW to Westerly winds over a large area due to tightening pressure gradient forces helping to make winters presence more apparent in subtropical Australia.

^This is getting fucking atrocious! They were right that we'd be getting more heavy rains, but I didn't know every month! I lost two plants in the last deluge (my Choko drowned, Mexican Sunflower got water-loggedmy Senna and Tecoma felled -- though they're all reviving). Let's hope the rain event will not be heavy here and instead should be focused on the South Coast or Mid North Coast! Let's hope we will be in the 50mm range within those three terrible ECL days. All due to that fricking large High pressure zone in southern pacific (due to the positive SAM phase). We really need a negative SAM - More warmth from the continent and more dry days (and I know Neg sams are bad for VIC and inland NSW)...
