The Lindosization of Almería keeps going on: "On Saturday 23, Almería AP broke its record for the highest minimum temperature for March with 23.5C. The old record was 21.2C, from the previous day. But before 2024, the highest minimum temperature recorded in March had been 17.6C."
Has it just been anomalously warm in Spain, or is there something up with these stations? I wouldn't think so, they are standard AEMET airport stations.

It’s been warm on Friday and Saturday, but not exceptionally warm. However, this record is consistent with a very persistent foehn wind in the area and also affected nearby locations, with various >20C lows recorded. If you mean a longer time frame, definitely the last 2 years were very rich in positive anomalies over the whole country and many records occurred especially on the Mediterranean coast.

Brisbane and many other locations in QLD and NT recorded their lowest March maximums on record. ❄️ Last weekend, several temperature records were broken for the coolest March day. On Friday and Saturday, significantly cool weather was observed across the southern Northern Territory. On Sunday, the cool weather shifted into south-east Queensland. The following locations recorded their coolest March day on record: • 18.8 °C at Territory Grape Farm, NT • 16.3 °C at Arltunga, NT • 15.8 °C at Watarrka, NT • 17.7 °C at Walungurru, NT • 21.4 °C at Brisbane, Qld • 21.1 °C at Brisbane Airport, Qld • 21.5 °C at Redcliffe, Qld • 17.0 °C at Toowoomba, Qld • 19.3 °C at Oakey, Qld • 18.8 °C at Warwick, Qld • 19.7 °C at St George, Qld Alice Springs also recorded two consecutive days below 18.0 °C. This has only happened once before in the month of March, back in 2001. ❓ Why has it been so cool? Over the past week, northern and central Australia has seen very cloudy conditions, in part thanks to the monsoon, ex-Tropical Cyclone Megan and increased thunderstorm activity. Cloud limits how much the sun can heat things up, and usually results in cooler daytime temperatures. ⚠️ For the latest forecasts and warnings, got to www.bom.gov.au or the BOM Weather app. Ahhhh FB.... allowing fucktards to comment since time imemoriial... the Cookers don't disappoint....lol

Melbourne's driest March on record looking likely ( source: Weatherzone ) Melbourne has only had 2 mm of rain so far this month, and with little prospect of precipitation over the coming week, the city could be on track to registering its driest March in 170 years of records. As of 9am on Monday, March 25, Melbourne’s official rain gauge at Olympic Park had only registered four days of rainfall so far this month, amounting to a paltry total of 2.0 mm. This is well below the city’s long-term March average of about 50 mm. This month’s lack of substantial rainfall has been caused by unusually high pressure to the south and southeast of Australia in recent weeks. These areas of abnormally high pressure have helped to block the passage of rain-bearing cold fronts and low pressure troughs in Melbourne and other areas of Victoria. Large areas of central and western Victoria have received less than 20 percent of their average March rainfall, despite being 25 days into the month. Some areas haven’t even collected 5 percent of their March average, including Melbourne, Ballarat and Bendigo. Melbourne’s forecast for the rest of March doesn’t offer much hope for parched parks and gardens across the city. The best chances of rain over the coming week will be around Wednesday or Sunday, but neither of these days are looking too promising for substantial rainfall at this stage. If Melbourne makes it to the end of the month without picking up another 1.7 mm of rain, this will become the city’s driest March on record, beating the current record of 3.7 mm from March 1934. You can track Melbourne’s daily rainfall here to see how much the city collects before the end of March.

Another hot and dry week last week. The 28 C high and 25 mm rain on the 20th stands out like a sore thumb:

This past winter was a mild one and March started out very warm. So we had green grass and some buds starting last week. In March! Usually it's dull brown for a few more weeks. Buds are on hold now as it snowed last Friday and has been cool since. It is also not supposed to reach 50F/10C again until the 4th which is a week from today. The "bloom index" map was very close to reaching here a few days ago. The static image is from today but there's an animated version on their site.

Crunch41 I saw some small leaves already on trees along the path on Lake Mendota that goes past the university. Weirdest thing ever because I'm used to spring bloom being the first week of May.

jgtheone Renmark had 4.4mm, double what you had. Don't think that happens often lol. Essendon had 4mm, not going to break a record here but all in all it's been a very dry (and mostly sunny) month.

I have no words First time in the 100 years of meteorological recordkeeping a "showers and possibly a thunderstorm" forecast delivers a quality storm with lots of lightning, heavy rain Sustained 2-3"/hr rain rates at my PWS

Saw on instagram that Malmö/Lund have started getting small leaves on shrubs and small trees. Grass is green and flowers are blooming. Meanwhile we're sitting on 40 cm snow.

Very nice day today, high was 46 (8 c) just after midnight. The rest of the day hovered around 40 (4-5 c), with dews just slightly lower. Misty morning, a midday brief heavy shower and overcast the rest of the day. Wish days like this weren’t so rare here.

We most likely passed the average precipitation for this wet season either this week or last week. Of course this is likely just a slightly wetter than normal season since we're not likely to get much more rain in April or later. I could see around 25" being most likely considering the forecast for the next couple days and averages in April-July. Precip data was missing for the last two weeks, but there was 1.5" today at the airport, which tends to be drier (averages 16" per season instead of 21"). As well as a little rain last weekend.
