Interesting! I guess those mountains either side of your place negate temperature inversion for your actual village instead, because they tend to block the frigid air from arriving in the first place? Hence as a result, inversion between much smaller amounts of elevation changes occur than when being trapped in a "locked in" valley? I'd say there's a similar case with Storlien (600 m asl) being as mild in winter as Sundsvall (coastal) over a greater geographical area in Central Sweden. It's closer to the Gulf Stream and the easterlies that hit Sundsvall then struggle to "climb the mountains" from the east, so I think that explains a whole lot with our mountains too! The most of air masses reaching us run across our valley as if it was a corridor, air can either arrive from east and go up along the valley or run down from the alpine passes. I tried to draw it on a map, the blue arrow represents the kind of air movement which is typical of cold snaps and snowy days or heavy rain events, while the red arrows start from a couple of alpine passes and follow the typical path of foehn wind.

Because the BBC no longer use the Met Office for their forecasts, they now use MeteoGroup...

You have rain with a -1c high and your highs aren't that cold. It looks like this cold spell isn't affecting the southern chunk of britain as severly as the Northern Chunk temps wise.

Met office not accurate hun and you know it. Otherwise you wouldn't have posted the weatheronline forecast.
Btw stop shitstirring that's not my nearest location, it's right on the coast at sea level. So it's obvious not accurate.

So it's obvious not accurate. Met Office is the most accurate you'll get, all other forecasts are based on their data. I usually post Weatheronline stuff because that's what other people here use. Ballkelly/Limavady is your nearest location, stop trying to pretend you live higher up and more inland.

Metoffice has proven very accurate for my location, as verified against recorded statistics. Anyway, very cold forecast here, and temps have been actually below the metoffice numbers lately.

It's over 6 miles away and it's right on a floodplain right beside a lake, so that will make a difference.

Well I'm at 80m, 30 miles inland, and closer to the system, which has to cross yet another body of water to reach you, stands to reason that it would be slightly colder here.

Welll forecasts suggest otherwise. Topography and sun angle have to be taken into consideration. The winds are easterly so not onshore for me. Also 3.4c here now far lower than the 5c at the coastal station.
So again..

Which forecasts are you referring to?
My nearest station is in Hawarden, at sea level and much closer to the coast. So in likelihood we'll also be experiencing colder temperatures than what the station records.

Because the BBC no longer use the Met Office for their forecasts, they now use MeteoGroup... I know which is stupid. And Owen (LMFAO) the Met Office is very accurate and reliable infact I think I'm going to ignore the BBC forecasts from now on as they seem to over-estimate temperatures..
