Bit of a crap cold spell to be honest. Netweather really ramped it up to look like we were getting days of cold. Not sure why they think lying will change the weather.

It's still a pretty cold few days, don't forget we are practically in March. Daytime temperatures below freezing in many parts of the UK for a few days at this time of the year is quite notable, as is some of the snow being forecast by the models. Some places could get the most snowfall in several years. The breakdown is a few days away too, so lots can & will change with the models by then.

London has highs 9-10c below average between 27th-1st. That is definitely a notable cold spell.
Am I right that Heathrow has never had a March ice day? I checked the cold spells in 1986 and 2013 and no ice days there, tutiempo didn't have data for March 1962 though Hampstead didn't have anything below 0.8C that month so I'm assuming Heathrow won't have had ice days then either.

It came close in 2013 with 0.4c. March 1987 saw 0.6c and 1986 saw 0.2c. If it didn't happen in 1962 or 2013 then I doubt it has ever happened at Heathrow.
Heathrow's record low in March is -5.1c, so the forecast a few days ago was showing record breaking temperatures.
Might be a slow thaw for us here. Ideally the snow would stick around for as long as possible because it's probably the last proper snow we'll get this year, don't want slush though.
